SHHHHH - I'm Suppose To Be Working!!!

Yes, I'm suppose to be working but I just couldn't help myself. I really couldn't - the blocks were sitting in front of my sewing machine taunting me. In fact, I swear I heard them calling me - LOL!

2 Simplicity Layer Cakes + yardage for the sashing = Blossom by Fig Tree Quilts. Obviously it still needs an outer border but I need to make that decision now that the center is done. Any thoughts?

OK, I must stop playing for now! Thanks for visiting!

Polka Dot Girls and Thank yous!

Need to say thank you and acknowledge some recent awards and tags:

From Connie @ Simply Quilted this wonderful "I Love you this much award". Connie, thank you so much - you know you really touched my heart!

From Nanette @ Freda's Hive this "You Make My Day" award. Thank you, Nanette - you make my day everyday, as well. :-)
And, Amanda @ Busy Little Quilter tagged me to list 7 Weird or Random Things about myself. I've done this a couple of times and I've run out of things I want the world to know about me. LOL If I listed more it would scare off everyone. :-) I appreciate the tag, Amanda!
I'm not going to tag anyone because so many have been tagged already!
And, another completed Polka Dot Girls block!
Thank you for visiting my simple blog - come back soon!

3 Inch Blocks :-)

Take a look at Wendy's blog to see the sweetest rail fence quilt made with 2 1/2" finished rail fence blocks. I love that quilt and I appear to be hooked on 3" blocks - LOL. I want to make another quilt but not sure which blocks to use. So sometime in February as Wendy and I were finishing our 3" nine patch swap I started playing with 3" finished shoo-fly, nine patch and rail fence blocks. Any of these blocks would make an adorable quilt. Sigh! :-)
Maybe three quilts. LOL

Thanks for letting me share!

JOY has arrived - literally! :-)

I literally found "Joy" in my mailbox late last week. And, I have to say that I was stunned to find this adorable "wabbit". And, she's mine, all mine. :-)

Let me share the letter that was enclosed with "Joy":

Hello Auntie Darlene,

My mummy said I could come and live with you, cuz it's not safe in Oklahoma anymore, with those nasty wabbit hunters. You can see my ear is bent and my head tilts a little. That's cuz I got caught under the fenze, trying to wun away from the wabbit hunter. Mummy say's my cuzin Thimbles is living with you in your sewing room. She say's if I'm a good girl you might let me live in there with her, amongst all those lovely warm quilts. I promize I'll be a good girl. Oh and mummy said to tell you that name is JOY. She says sometimes you can't remember where you left your joy, so she thought she'd send me to remind you to look in your sewing room."

As I was reading this sweet note I laughed and cried at the same time. In fact I read the note several times because I was truly stunned. The sweet Angel in blogland that sent "Joy" to me is Linda @ All Stitched Up. I don't know how I will ever thank Linda for this sweet sentiment - talk about touching my heart. So, Linda, I heart you! :-) Thank you so much!

So, then I introduced Joy to Thimbles and since then they've been romping and playing in my sewing room. Oh my goodness they are having way too much fun!

Here they are on my kitchen table, posing and looking sweet! :-)
As I was walking away with the camera I overheard Thimbles whisper to Joy - "this quilted table topper and I match, do you think Auntie Darlene will let me have it". You should know that she's been begging me for a quilt of her own. LOL I bet it won't be long before Joy starts begging for a quilt, too.
Thank you for letting me share! And, Linda, once again, thank you so much! You are a true Friendship Angel.

Happy Easter to you and yours!

My Source for Australian Stitchery Designs

I've had a handful of e-mails asking where I purchased the Polka Dot Girls stitchery patterns. I love to do business with Kim @ Honeysuckle Cottage in AU. I've also ordered my Leanne's House and Cinderberry Stitches patterns from Kim. She provides very quick and excellent service!

If you order from Kim, tell her I sent you! :-) Enjoy!

Polka Dot Girls

I'm on the mend - not 100% but better than I was earlier this week. Last night while watching three Law and Order episodes I finished stitching another Polka Dot Girl(s) block.

Wendy has finished her 9 patch quilt - you must visit her blog and take a peek. It's stunning! Yes, I'm going to repeat myself - sorry, bear with me! Last August I asked Wendy if she would like to exchange 3" finished 9 patch blocks and lucky for me she excitedly agreed. Now, we each have a wonderful quilt filled with a memories to share for years to come. I've participated in block swaps in the past but never a one-on-one swap and I much prefer the one-on-one version. If you have an opportunity to do something like this with a far away friend, I highly recommend it.

Thank you for all the get well wishes - I appreciate your kind words! And, do stop by to visit again!

Sniffing, Sleeping & Stitching!

On Sunday I was feeling a bit punky and as the day progressed I felt worse. Got up Monday morning with a terrible head cold. Consequently, I've been spending time either on the couch or in bed. While on the couch I've managed to do some stitchery. Some work on my primitive Four Seasons project (need more DMC #300 to finish one of the blocks) and work on my Polka Dot Girls project. I can't remember when I started stitching the PDG's and then stopped to finish my Quilter's Journey project and am just getting back to The Girls. I'd forgotten how cute they are. LOL

Back to my regularly scheduled sniffing and stitching. :-)

Thanks for stopping by - come again!

The Party is Over! :-)

My three Me days have come and gone but I'm not sad - it was a productive & enjoyable three days. woohoo! :-)

Saturday I was back in my sewing room bright and early. First I assembled and traced the first three blocks of the Four Seasons stitchery BOM by JoAnn Mullaly and The Country Loft (someday I will visit that shop - sigh!). Then I started my project with Simplicity Layer Cake squares. I got all the blocks done and had plans to assemble the quilt top today but didn't feel up to par. Instead I spent the day on the couch stitching the first Four Seasons block and I took a four hour nap. I'm not sure if I'm coming down with a cold or if it's allergies. Whatever it is, I don't like it - I feel punky! Ugh!

While I was sewing and stitching away I was thinking about the giveaway for my drawing tonight and had a brainstorm. When you're sewing, sewing, sewing and sewing some more - do you find yourself having to stop and wind more bobbins?

The prize for this little giveaway is a SideWinder (The Portable Bobbin Winder) by Wrights.

Factoid: this little gem was invented by my good friends, Barbara and Mary of Me & My Sister Designs.

And, the winner of this little cutie is Tammy @ Ginger Patches! A little thank you to everyone who played along with me and I especially want to thank all the new people who stopped by and left a comment.

Friday Ta-Das! :-)

I had a very productive Friday!

Finished Simple Pleasures from Comfort and Joy by Brenda Riddle @ Acorn Quilt and Gift Company. I used Sweet Baby Jane by Me and My Sister Designs/Moda and a sweet deep pink pin dot by ?. I'm sorry for the tacky picture but it's the best I could do. Look who managed to get into the picture - THIMBLES! LOL

My sweet DH, Ron insisted that I step out of my sewing room long enough to go to dinner. We had Chinese food at a nearby favorite restaurant - YUMMY!

Spent the evening tracing stitchery projects. I traced three more Polka Dot Girls - haven't worked on that project in a very long time. And, I traced my first Truly Scrumptious block. Look! There's Thimbles again! LOL
Today is National Quilting Day so there has to be more sewing today - woohoo! It'll be a Simplicity day! I hope that you're going to spend today with your needle and thread, too.
Don't forget to leave a comment below - giveaway coming Sunday evening when all my doings will come to an end. :-)
Thanks for stopping by - come again!

edit: Karen thank you for correcting the name of the fabric - it is Sweet Baby Jane. I've been doing a ton of sewing for Me and My Sister Designs with Strawberry Lemonade so it's on the brain. Thank you so much! :-)

My Pincushions!

Blueberry Lane has asked that we share pictures of our pin cushion(s). Here are some of mine!

The first picture is just a variety that I have sitting around my sewing room - bear in mind that I can't put a pin in "Thimbles" my bunny. Just can't do it. Besides she's my sewing room mascot so I can't inflict pain. LOL Some of these are just decorative and others are used on a very regular basis.

These are pincushions that Wendy made for me during the Great Mini 9 Patch swap - they are incredibly special to me. They look huge, don't they? LOL
Gladys and the Peeps - need I say more! :-)
Blogger is not playing nice this morning so please excuse the picture scramble.
Thanks for visiting and please come again, often!

Can YOU Help Me? Please!
(I "borrowed" this picture from Connie)
I have searched high and low for over a year for a sewing tin styled like the one you see in the picture. I've been told that they were/are available at Wal-Mart but sadly I haven't seen them around.
So, can you help me find one or two - doesn't have to be the same design as the one in the picture. I would prefer that it have a sewing design on it but I'm primarily interested in the syle and shape. I'll gladly send money or whatever you'd prefer.
If 'you' found one or two for me I'd be one happy girl. :-)
Thank you!

Changes!

In recent weeks I've made some decisions to make some changes in my little corner of the world. It's quite obvious to me that it will take a little time to adjust to these changes. Sigh :-) Life will be a little more hectic and demanding than I'm used to and this week has proven that to me. At the end of the day I have only had enough energy to drop into my comfy chair. I have managed to pick up my stitchery project and tonight I made the final stitches. My sweet Easter project is "Easter Sampler" by Bird Brain Designs. Hopefully in the next day or two it will be a pillow.

I hope that you'll bear with me as I adjust to the changes and know that while I may not leave a comment on your blog - I am lurking! :-) Please don't stop visiting me and leaving me your comments - they mean alot to me! Hopefully I'll be back in "blogging form" (LOL) soon.

And, by the way, these changes are all good! :-)

Rested and Relaxed!

We had three wonderful days in the mountains of Northern Arizona. This was the most relaxing and restful retreat week end we've had in a very long time.

I spent some time working on an Easter embroidery pattern and two mini quilts however, I didn't feel pushed to be super productive. I usually have pedal to the medal and come back with several completed flimsies but not this time. I spent Friday evening and all day Saturday working on my 9 patch quilt. You might recall that these are 3" nine patches that I traded with Wendy for several months and you'll notice that I chose the double pink for the alternate block. And, I absolutely love it. BTW, there are 209 3" nine patches and 180 3" alternate blocks. Whew!!!! LOL I am so thankful that Wendy agreed to swap these cuties with me. Thank you, Wendy - I will treasure this forever.

I will catch up with e-mails and blog reading tomorrow - thank you for popping in to visit! Come again soon!
