Journey of a Quilter

I believe that my quilting has been a journey with many winding roads. I've heard many people talk about how "bad" their first quilts were and even apologize for how bad they are. I choose to look back at my first quilts and know that they've been part of my quilting journey and I've learned along the way.

When I first discovered Aussie designer, Leanne Beasley's pattern "Journey of a Quilter" I knew it was one I had to do. I found Leanne's blog and asked about the availability of her patterns here in US and unfortunately no one was carrying that particular pattern or for that matter any of her patterns. I ordered the entire set (it's designed to be a block of the month) from Honeysuckle Cottage and since it's arrival I've carried them from room to room, studied the designs, etc. I finally settled on exactly how I wanted to approach this pattern and decided to start with Block #5 (it's in the center) and work from there. I'm not quite finished with it but I couldn't wait any longer to share it with you. Besides I wanted to post a picture for Nadine to see before she leaves on her long anticipated vacation. :-)

I will be sharing my blocks as I complete them - there are 8 more. Thanks for visiting my blog!

Darlene, I love the pastels, it's beautiful...I still give my embroidery stitches a "C", I guess with practice they'll get better. I bet you can't wait to do the next block.

Beautiful! Every time I see someone doing Leanne's blocks I get jealous. I have her Romancing the Road Trip book and am planning on making her With Love From . . . quilt.

Aren't her designs just yummy?

THANKS, Darlene ! Here's another one to fill my head with sweet dreams, while I'm away...
Your stitching is soooo beautiful.... and the fabrics !

Did you order the whole as a kit, or pattern only ?

And are you laying a thin batting behind, before stitching, or not ?

Questions, questions, questions ! LOL LOL

Keep doing, dear, it's just LOVELY ! (and so meaningful !)

XOXOXOXOXO
NADINE

I have also been shopping from HC and am a happy customer.
Your block is lovely Darlene. I am prepping block # 5 of Leanne's House today, to bring on a weekend trip up on the west coast - 8 hours driving from here. Not that I can do stitchery in the car - and we are taking turns behind the wheel, but it is always nice to bring some hand work along :-)
You do lovely work, as always :-)

Your stitching is beautiful. Out of Leannes designs that is the one I would want to do too. I plan to do it eventually but maybe need to put it higher on my list. Bren

Your embroidery is stunning. Leanne's Journey quilt is wonderful. I thought about it several times but resisted the temptation...for now. I look forward to seeing how yours comes together.

Darlene,
I love that stitchery you did. That is one of my favorite things to do. I could sit and do stitchery all day every day. I love Leanna's patterns as well. I've ordered a few. A shop in Las Vegas carried some of them and I bought what they had.
Happy stitchin
Sharon
