Playtime!

Libby has been having more fun than a barrel of monkeys! And, I spent all day Saturday and half of Sunday having some serious playtime in my sewing room.

I made more Pinwheel Stars in dark colors and I'm quite crazy about them.

And, then Saturday night while I was laying in bed waiting to drift off to sleep, I had a thought. I could take the leftovers and make Calico Spools. And by the way, if you haven't visited Marcia at Quilter's Cache you simply must. I have not been able to stop thinking about those spools since Vicky posted a picture on her blog. She won't send hers to me so I had to make my own. :-) I have pulled scraps to make more and each one brings a huge smile!

Now, the downside to all of this is that now I have too many projects in progress and I want to work on all of them NOW! Focus, Darlene, focus! :-)
As I like to say "Quilting puts a smile on my face and a song in my heart".
The Fantastic Artichokes update: The shirts were a huge hit with the other members of the bowling team. Seth was beyond excited! And, to add to his excitement he got his first strike and broke 100. WooHoo!!!!

I love the blocks, they look wonderful! I know the feeling of wanting to do it all at the same time LOL But that's half the fun, right?

Once again on the same wave length Darlene! I feel a spool quilt coming on, only I think I will add some applique in the borders, such as was shown in one of the Simple Blessings or Simple Traditions books.

I didn't get a chance to comment the other day on your post when you started the pinwheel star blocks, but these are really lovely. They do look like night and day! I especially like them in the 30s prints. Very cute!

I love the spools! I have a block of them in my friendship quilt hanging in my sewing room. The friend who pieced them for me used different fabrics so it looked like thread on the spools. Too cute. The pinwheels are my favorite. I love the dark colors, but I am a thimbleberries freak. A big WooHoo for the expert bowler!!! Bren

Your pinwheel stars post that I read on Saturday inspired me when I was trying to decide what block patterns to use for my border corner blocks in the Blue Skies quilt--probably Diane B's spirit standing at my shoulder when I was stumped, telling me "go check out Darlene's blog"! LOL! Anyway, I used the idea for one of my corners, and it was a fun block to make. I could see making more one of these days!

Fantastic job Seth...what a wonderful day for Seth and his Papa. I am nuts about those pinwheel stars and the spools are just awesome. Like you I have too many things going all at the same time...we quilters think we can DO IT ALL! Well, we can, can't we.

Quilting can really interrupt your sleep, can't it? I remembered in the night that a big piece of fabric that I ordered in my last fabric order didn't come. Why I didnt realise at the time I'll never know.

So, what? Now it's my fault? LOL

Love your spools. I've got a spool quilt that I'm contemplating right now. Was going to do scrappy, but then inspiration struck! Uh oh!

Your pinwheels are so pretty. Doggone it, Darlene! Stop it! You're inspiring me way too much here!

The spools look like fun. I've seen several patterns that I like and one of these days I'm going to make one too.

Those are really cute blocks. They look quite complicated to assemble with set in seams, but I bet there is a trick to them. They look great in both fabrics.

Nice to hear the Artichoke bowling shirts were a hit. I had no idea that artichokes bowled. The things I have been learning since I started blogging - LOL

Great use of your leftovers. Can one ever have too many projects really? Congrats to Seth. Tell him one day he can bowl a 300 game. My dad as a ring from the PBA for a 300, 299 and 298 game.
