(long winded this morning)
Look at these terrific Rocky Road to Kansas blocks I won and received from Elaine. I purposely flipped one over so you could see that she used telephone book pages as a foundation. Great idea! If you visit her blog you'll see that her quilt top is done and she's beautifully handquilting it.
Elaine, thank you so much for sending these to me - I love them and very soon I will use them to make a quilt.
Recently Connie presented me with this "You Make Me Smile Award" - thank you so much Connie.
I absolutely adore Connie and would love to get to know her better! She's truly a kind soul.
I'm suppose to nominate someone but I've decided to nominate anyone that reads my blog!

When I first started blogging I used to respond to every comment left on my blog and in the last couple of months I've been very remiss in doing that. So, now a question for you my readers and commentors of my blog. When you leave a comment on a blog do you expect a response to your comment? Please be honest because my guilt is really getting the best of me! :-)
And, last but not least thank you for popping by to read about the happenings in my world. I appreciate it so much!
In Friendship!

Love what you won from Elaine! What a wonderful idea of using phone book pages!
It's great to know more things about you, my friend! I guess I will now have to return the favor!
Congrats on your award - you make me smile, too!
As for a reply to a comment, I don't expect them, but it's always a fun surprise when I receive one, and that's the truth!!
Loved reading your 4 things meme! I don't expect a response, but like you, I feel I must respond to comments left on my own blog. I sometimes feel guilty though, 'cause a response just means more e-mail for the recipient to have to read! And congratulations on your well deserved reward!
Now you have done it......... I want to rush home and cut up my phone book....... I am delighted that the blocks found such a good home..........
No, I do not think you need to respond to every comment made on your blog......... This should be a guilt free exercise.
The way I look at it - I only have so much time per day and I really try to limit my computer time... if I responded to everyones comment - well, then it would cut into my sewing time, my Litle Boy time, my famiy time, my cooking time, my whatever time that doesn't have to do with computer time. However, if someone asks me a specific question, I try to answer. And, also - there are always a few people who leave you comments that you are bound to correspond with more than others. For me - I try to return peoples comments on my blog by leaving a comment on THEIR blog. I just love comments and I am sure everyone else does too!
Cheers!
Evelyn
Love the 4 things about you.
With comments, I think it nice to get responses, but I don't expect it. Some comments are that, and there is no need to respond, but if I ask a question I really would like to hear the answer.
Love the blocks you got and the phone bood idea is a great one! I'm glad you brought the comment question up ....I think I've been doing it all wrong :-(! I always reply to a comment on my own blog after someone writes. Congrats on your smile award - you do make us all smile :-)!
I always send an e-mail to people who comment on my blog. If they are no reply I figure they don't want me to anyway. I have missed maybe 2 posts of not sending a reply and felt "off" because of it. Like if you go out of the house without your underwear! Something is just not right. But you should do what you want. If someone gets offended that you do not respond to a comment then that would be their problem. I do think a question deserves a reply. Don't you? That is a question...JUST KIDDING! No need to reply. By the way, I enjoy when you are chatty.
Hi Darlene
Well I do like to reply to each commnent - mostly it is very brief but I do like to reply and I feel guilty if I don't.......not sure what I think of your question.......sometimes I wished I didn't have to but I love it when someone replies to me so maybe if you reply every couple of posts - that way you are replying and also having a break.........I don't like never getting a reply.........I view everyone in bloglines and have to open each persons blog I want to comment on so it takes a litle effort and my internet is very slow compared to most.......so what I am saying here is people put effort into commenting it is polite to reply but maybe just not every post would make it a little easier for you........I have written far to much.......take care......love you blog........always reading just not always commenting.........
Lucky you to win the blocks from Elaine!! Again that wonderful 30's fabrics.
It is very hard to respond to all the comments, especially if you get 30-40 on a post. I don't expect a response each time I comment. And it is hard to write a comment on each post as well. I think you should not feel guilty and blog because you enjoy it - it shouldn't be work, it should be fun :))
I enjoy leaving comments and responding to comments left on my blog . . . but I have stopped responding to every one because I found that I was spending so much time on the computer there was no time left for anything else. Now I try to drop a little note here and there to everyone every few comments or so. Hopefully there is understanding all around *s*
I love reading your blog, I always read it and am sometimes guilty of not leaving a comment...but when I do leave a comment I sure don't expect a reply. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE when I hear from you but you know what there are only so many hours in a day...we do want to have time to sew, so computer time needs to be cut back. Please don't ever feel guilty...this is supposed to be fun!
This is an excellent question. I've been wondering if a response is expected or not. I like to respond if I have time but sometimes I'm just too busy. I agree with Libby's method of replying. If I get a comment on my blog I'm very pleased with that.
I used to feel as though I had to reply to every comment AND visit the other person's blog and comment! Now, I reply if there is a question. I will also make an effort to send and e-mail thanking a first time visitor. If I'm looking for information, I will send a thank you to the individual who provided me with links. Otherwise, I say thank you under my breath to that individual and move on! Does that make sense? Aren't you the lucky one, winning blocks! Thanks for the nomination. I think I ran out of interesting things to say when I listed the 7 things you didn't know about me. lol Maybe I can dig up some stuff! lol Okay, Ms Chatty, I'm off to do a bit more reading and perhaps quilting! Keep well!
Darlene, Do NOT have guilt...this is blogland and you are the master (or mistress) of your blog, write from your heart, reply when you feel it's time, and enjoy blogging. That's my 2-cents' worth... Thanks for the lovely things you wrote. You're a sweet friend. Connie W (((hugs)))
My husband was a key-punch operator, too. I hope you enjoy the gifts from Elaine. Isn't someone else's stuff just so much fun??

Love the blocks, and about the replies, I never expect you to reply to my comment. It's nice when you do. AND I don't always comment. But I mostly want you to know that I'm keeping up with you...In friendship!
I can't wait to see your rocky road quilt!
I don't expect a response to comments I leave. It's always nice to hear from blogger friends by email though. Can't wait to see what you do with the wedges!
I fret over comments/replies also. I read around the ring two or three times a week, but it's either at my often very quick lunch break, or with my morning coffee, or when I've straggled in from work. I keep up with everyone, but sometimes I just don't have the time to leave a comment. Same thing with replying to comments. Time is the one thing I dont have a lot of - and sometimes it's just plain hard to reply to everyone, although I try to answer specific questions. Maybe now that my work life has settled down, I'll be a better blogger!
I don't reply to every comment but do try to answer questions and to say thanks when appropriate. I no longer try to track people down when their email addresses aren't available. If I think about it I'll answer a question in another post but I usually forget.
I sometimes wonder if people who leave questions without an email address realize that's why they don't get an answer....but I can only post so many times asking people to give me an email address if they want a response so I try not to feel bad.
Those blocks are great.
Love the answers to your Meme.
I don't always respond to comments. It's more a factor of what is said in the comment that helps me decide whether or not I respond. Like thimbleanna said a response just means more email and when do you stop?
Enjoyed reading your 4 things list. When I leave a comment I don't usually need or expect a reply. When comments are left on my blog, I do try to respond where appropriate, but I don't think it's always necessary or expected.
I reply if I have a reply come up in my head. I feel guilty too but I don't like to force a response from myself. I am not really a chatty person so I don't always have a reply. Of course I never want to offend anyone but I want to be myself and enjoy stressfree blogging. I think most bloggers would understand, and I also think that if I am sincere and my intentions are good I will be understood.
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving the nice welcome to blogland.
Loved getting to know you even better with your meme. And do I expect a response? Only if I ask a question.
I don't know how I missed this post, but here's my 2 cents worth. Comments are always nice to receive, it's confirmation that you're not talking to yourself....lol... as for answering them, I try to, but I also try not to feel guilty if I don't. There have been a few occasions where I haven't, and unfortunately have felt guilty. but I do agree with the other ladies, this is supposed to be fun. It's always nice to get a reply once in a while but it shouldn't be an expectation.
Your question is a good one. I don't expect responses unless I ask a questions and I don't respond to all comments unless a question is asked. A comment does cause me to check out someone else's blog and I comment there as a response usually.
Great blocks, by the way. I like the phone book idea also. We get so many different phone books and would like to have a good use for them!
Did ya think I missed this one :)
I think comments are a bonus not something to stress over or feel quilty. Loved your meme and congrats on the blocks. :)
Hey there Darlene hon, what a good question! I don't expect an email every time I leave a comment on someone blog, I was just thinking if everyone had that expectation, can you imagine how much time would be taken up?
I really only email people when they ask me a question, or the comment seems to need a response. I hope that this hasn't disappointed people?!?
*hugs*

My "rule" of sorts is that I'll respond to a comment if I have something to say, even if it's just "thanks!" Same thing with leaving comments on blogs--like most of us, I enjoy readings TONS of blogs, but if I don't have any real input, I may not leave a comment.
I seem to agree with the majority of commenters so far re responding to comments. I don't expect a reply - although if I ask a specific question a personal reply or a response through a subsequent post is nice.
I apply the same to comments received and try and visit their blog and comment if appropriate.
Life's too short to sweat the small stuff :)
Honestly? It depends on the comment -- if I'm just saying great work, a response is nice but not necessary. If I'm asking a question -- a response would be really nice. But, in general -- if someone responds great, if not, oh well, maybe they will some other time!
