My New Toy & Major Goal!
I has occurred to me that I haven't shown you my new toy! This is my new 'netbook' aka tiny laptop. teehee!
I'd seen these little guys advertised several weeks before Christmas and thought it might be perfect for my needs. See, I have a wonderful desktop computer and while I wanted a laptop I didn't see the need for one. So, one evening before Christmas my sweet hubby went with me to Staples so I could check this baby out and I was instantly smitten. He bought it for me right on the spot and I've been a happy girl ever since. You can see by my 6" ruler just how small my new toy is and look at my tiny travel mouse on the right! Now, I can sit with my hubby in the living room in the evening and still 'play'. LOL Maybe I'll be better about responding to all your kind comments.
I've been reading about everyone's quilting goals for 2009 and I've been thinking about mine. I have a very long list of projects I'd like to complete but I have one major goal. I've decided that it's time to go through my entire stash (fabric, tools, etc) and eliminate all the "what was I thinking" stuff. I've been giving careful consideration to how I'm going to get rid of what I don't want and have some ideas. I'm going to sell off some of the fat quarter bundles/towers that I know I'll never use and I'm going to donate fabric to a group that makes quilts for children, Vets, homeless shelters, etc. I've started this daunting task but I still have a ton of work to do.
Thank you for letting me share and especially thank you for stopping by to visit! Come again soon!
In Friendship!

Happy New Year Darlene!!!
It is a very small little computer and it probably does everything you need to blog and surf the internet? I am looking to buy a new computer, mine is getting so old and driving me crazy.
Have fun with your new computer - and sorting through your fabric :)))
Nice toy! My gift to myself was the Juki I bought but have not used yet. I bought a laptop for my sewing room several months ago, and I wish I had thought twice before I bought the 17 inch, that sucker is way too big, I like the size of yours!
Isn't it funny how we all seem to end up with that 'what was I thinking' fabric? Donating to organizations is a great idea - they will love having the fabric to make gifts for those in need *s*
My hubby bought the exact same computer for himself, he said we could share it. I've tried it out and what a fun toy and to be able to move it anywhere is awesome.
You have a big job ahead of you but it's good you are thinking of this. I've been thinking about some of my books that I will never use. I don't want them going to a thrift store and I don't think the guild wants them. I'm stuck on what to do with these books.
I think your hubby is a keeper for sure, how sweet of him and aren't you the spoilt girl? Now if you get stuck not knowing what to do with any of that fabric.....lol..... great idea with the donating to the different organisations. I'm sure it will be appreciated.
oooo - a very pretty new toy indeed!
What a fun, fun new toy...cute as it can be.
What a sweet new baby you have there. My first laptop was actually a notebook which is a dinosaur now and I'm on my second laptop after getting rid of that one. Isn't the portability wonderful! I love my Sony Vaio which I now have...love, love, love it.
What a cute little computer! I love it.
Just another idea, I know our local school district has a supply warehouse for teachers and they always want fabric.
Also, "Quilts of Valor" wants fabric donations to make quilts for wounded veterans. They have a website you can google.
I really need to clean out my "what was I thinking?" fabrics too!
I do love your notebook!!! I think it would be great to travel with as well.
Wow - that is tiny! But it will be fun to carry it along where ever you want!
I loved the bento box quilt gifty! Very nice!
Warm winter wishes!

A laptop is great. I use my daughter's. I am going to have to get my own one of these days.
That is the cutest laptop I've ever seen! I'm glad you're so happy with it.
I have been thinking about my quilting goals, too, since before 2009 started. I was still thinking about them the other day when I remembered the saying "it's the journey, not the destination" that's important. I've decided to enjoy the journey, no matter what my goals.
I think your idea of donating fabric is a wonderful one, by the way!
What a cute little puter you have there Missy!!! Love it!!!
What a cute little lap top...or notebook. What is the difference, is it just size? Oh I want one!! Bad big sis tempting me like that lol!
Good for you with the fabric goal. I like your name...the "what was I thinking fabric" lol...yeah I've got some of that!
Oooh, your new baby is so cute! I need one of those -- hubby really doesn't like it if I'm in the computer room and night and he's watching tv alone!
Great minds think alike! Not about the little computer... about the fabric! I've been doing the same thing ~ selling a few things on eBay, giving some things to friends who really don't need any more fabric either but still have room to store it, and donating quite a bit to groups who make charity quilts.
And, yes, Darlene, there are definitely quite a few of those "what the @(*#$# was I thinking?" pieces! Although, it must be said that I am keeping the yard of weird green mola-looking lizard fabric that I bought just because the friend I was with at the time said it was the ugliest fabric she'd ever seen. I love the colors in it and it is very funky looking, and it would make a fabulous tote bag... if I made those kinds of things. Still... I'm keeping it. :)
Have fun ~ with the computer too.
Awfully cute! I'd be afraid my fingers were too big for that little keyboard!
