Whoosh!!!
(Mr Daze says I need to blow the dust off my blog - LOL)
*
First I want to thank you for indulging me with answers to my question about my quilting style. I do believe you've all got me figured out. :-) Stay tuned because soon there will be a post with a question about YOU.
*
I've been back from Texas for two weeks and have been consumed by the lazies. Seriously lazy - I've accomplished very little since my return. :-(
*
I did finish stitching down all the pumpkins, stems and leaves on my wool project. You like? I'm actually quite proud of myself - it's a slow and steady process. Now, I need to figure out how to mark the vines and tendrils so I can do the embroidery. Any suggestions?

*
I'd gotten behind on the Raggedy Annies project from Kaaren, The Painted Quilt for Carol, Brown Quilts 4 Me. Blocks 3 & 4 stitched and ready to be mailed tomorrow. WooHoo!!!
*
BTW, I used Transfer-Eze on all the designs you see in the picture - I LOVE it. In fact I am now very spoiled. LOL

All the stitchery blocks after the Transfer-Eze has been rinsed off - so simple, so easy - yes it's the little things that make me happy. :-)

And, last but not least........................

Happy Halloween!
*
Thank you for visiting - come again soon! Tuesday I'll have my first GO! Cutter post - yes finally!

In Friendship!

I adore your candle mat! I swear, I am going to start making them as soon as I catch up with all my hand projects. I hope my hands still work by then. LOL!

I love transfer ease too!! So spoiled!! Your stitcheries turned out perfect.

That transfer product looks great - I might have to give it a try.

I love love love the pumpkins!!!

Isn't the pumpkin candle the cutest thing you ever saw. I am actually working on the same project and had hit a wall trying to figure out how to get the vines transferred and was disappointed that the pattern never mentions how to do it. I just bought a General's pastel chalk white marking pencil yesterday and just free handed them and it's working but you can only mark either one pumpkin or one small area at at time because as you work the chalk disappears. Good luck with yours.

I love your wool project!! Why mark it? Just have fun and stitch:)

Your little mat looks great!
Transfer ease works for wool stitchery too - it's great when you want to stitch words. Otherwise I just freehand the vines with a chalk marker like Nanci.

Love the candle mat! I spent all afternoon organizing my sewing projects, and this reminds me of a pattern that I recently bought, and I don't remember seeing it today. Hmmmm.... it was a wool candle mat! Back to the sewing room.

How about using a chalk pencil to mark the lines on your wool project?

Your pumpkin mat looks great! I've heard of using the transfer-eze when you're working on wool or dark fabrics.

I would use a chalk pencil to mark your wool. Your stitcheries are adorable!!

How did your hands do handling the wool?

wow you've been busy! love the fall pumpkins!

I like your Pumpkin candle mat Darlene. I was going to suggest a white chalk pencil, but thought better of that suggestion because the chalk may be a pain to get off again if it didn't fade away as you did the stitching. I'm going to agree with Lori, how about no marking and just do the vines however your needle takes you. I think it's fine to be lazy sometimes. Although seeing these finished projects makes me think you weren't too lazy. The Raggedy Ann blocks are turning out pretty cute.

I have debated on trying the tranfer ease but I checked out the cost and decided I would just stick with tracing, LOL. No I'm not cheap, just tight, hehehe, no, wait, they mean the same thing. Hmmmm....what can I say? I just knew you had been stitching, needle and thread flying through the air!!! Be careful you don't put your eye out with that thing! Adorable pieces, how do you stitch so quickly and beautifully? Hugs...

Very cute candle mat! How about a soap sliver to mark with? I've never tried transfer ease, I might have to if I ever get back to embroidering! ;-) Have a great week!

Love your pumpkins!

I use a chalk pencil made by Clover. You mark with it, and then the marks iron or steam off. It really works well, but you have to be patient, because you mark and it doesn't show up immediately. Wait ten seconds, and your mark is there. I guess the chalk has to dry to show up. The marks stay on better than a regular brush-off chalk pencil. I just freehand the vines on the pumpkins with the chalk, and then stitch over them.

Do your like working with the wool now? Looks like you've done a great job.

Yah, your wool project is progressing. Love it! I have no great, magical suggestions for marking your tendrils. I just look at the sample and free draw them with a chalk pencil. The GO! I've tried and will try again. Wish me luck!

Hey, you dust like I do, lol! Your pumpkins are too, too darling - how I wish I could work with wool! I have no clue how to transfer designs to a dark fabric, I have a lot of trouble myself. I think I'd try the transfer-eze on that too. Your stitchery blocks are awesome!

Your pumpkin mat is ADORABLE! When I have to do vines I just use a white chalk pencil and free hand it. Sorry, probably not the answer you wanted.

Love your wool project Darlene! I'm all for just winging it on the vines - more like real life.

Darlene, I love your pumpkin project!! How are your hands? If your white chalk pencil doesn't work then try a sliver of white soap for marking. Works great on dark wool. Take care and have fun!

I love your candle mat! Well done. How did your hands hold,or did you use any gloves?
I normally use chalk pencils to transfers patterns or wording unto my blocks. Maybe that will help?
I still need to get my hands on that transfer ease...

A touch of the lazies is good for you sometimes I think. I love your mat, but can't help about the marking, sorry.

Kaaren said...

If you don't feel comfortable freehanding the vines and tendrils, use either a white chalk pencil or a sliver of soap to mark the lines.

The candlemat looks absolutely wonderful, Darlene. Do I see more wool projects in your future endeavors? How about a rr pincushion in the new year once we are settled in our 'new' home? *wink*

Carol said...

Oh look at those Raggedy Ann and Andy blocks...they are so darn cute...I better start sewing these babies together. Thank you so much my friend. I love your wool mat...I think you should wing the little vines and tendrils...you'll do great!

I love the pumpkins!

There's nothing wrong with 'lazy'...lol.

The pumpkins look adorable, great job with stitching. Look at all those blocks finished, love them all.

How can you say that you have been lazy when you have all this evidence to the contrary?!? I can't wait to try that product for stitcheries. I usually do more over the winter months.

Debi said...

Candle mat is beautiful..and all the stitcheries make me want to get mine out again!

Monica said...

I love the candle mat. How's the allergy to wool doing?

Try using a Clover White Marking Pen and draw the tendrils on freehand. Anything that shows after you're done you can touch a hot iron to and it'll disappear.

Look at you! I can't believe you've accoplished so much! The pumpkins look really pretty!

Great looking pumpkins and embroidery blocks.
I have heard of Transfer Eze but have not tried it yet. Sounds like you are pleased with it.

Deb said...

I purchased some of the Transfer-Eze after you talked about it many moons back, but haven't used it yet. So, you really like it huh? Guess I need to get to work on my Raggedy Ann stuff....just have way to many projects going right now, so I was waiting to start another one...hoping to finish one first!

Deanna said...

Now, I don't like to argue, but that doesn't sound or look like lazy to me.

Shakerwood said...

I'm so glad you were able to work with the wool. You're doing a great job. Did you ever break out or have a reaction?

Kim D. said...

Your wool pumpkin project is adorable. I've seen this pattern somewhere and thought it would be a fun one to make. Have you tried the Sewline Fabric pencil, the lead is ceramic and it wipes away with water or an eraser. I bought the pink lead and it shows up on everything. Fons and Porter came out with one which sells at Joann's and if you have the coupon you can get it for 40-50% off.

Your wool pumpkin project is looking gook!!

I've never marked wool, I just pin it down how I want it look and stitch. I do have this stuff that's supposed to work really well for marking wool, but I can never remember where I've put it when I need it lol!!

Good...they're looking good!! I saw that typo just as I hit the publish button arghhh!!!
