How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?

And how can you mend a broken heart?

How can you stop the rain from falling down?

How can you stop the sun from shining?

What makes the world go round?

How can you mend a this broken man?

How can a loser ever win?

Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again .

The Bee Gees

Yes, I had my heart broken earlier this week - actually I was crushed. It's really not a big deal but for a few minutes I was a bit devastated. So, rather than dwell on the 'big crush' I got busy. I sorted through my little quilts and started quilting and attaching the binding to the front. I managed to get three ready for the big sew down.

By the way, have I shared with you how much I love straight line quilting? I absolutely love the way straight line quilting looks. Crosshatching, stitching in the stitch, etc, make me sew happy. Simple with wonderful results. :-)

Yesterday we found out that a good friend's daughter is expecting a baby boy 'any day now'. We hadn't seen him in months so it was surprise news. I decided I HAD to make a quilt NOW. LOL I pulled out some charm squares and got busy. It's very simple but it looks a bit 'flat' so I'll share after I do the quilting. Stay tuned.

We survived our time with Eli (8 year old grandson) surrounded by Star Wars action figures, Lego's, etc. There was a trip to Wal Mart, Toys 'R Us, McDonald's, Popsicles, cookies, tropical punch Capri Sun and of course a trip to his favorite eatery the Golden Corral buffet because he gets anything he wants i.e. cotton candy. LOL He told his mom that he really had a fabulous time with his Nana and Papa.

THAT makes my heart smile :-)

Have a terrific day! Thank you for popping by to visit - come again soon.

In Friendship!

It's never "not a big deal". You had something happen that caused you hurt. It's okay to feel it. You bring so much happiness to us, I will be sending my prayers your way to help ease your hurt.

Your quilts are lovely. I have a horrible time quilting anything larger than 40" so straight stitching defintely helps! Thank goodness it's all the rave!!

Darlene, I am so sorry about this pain. I've been crushed recently myself, and I've never cried so many tears in my life. I know there are other "bigger" hurts in this world, but I leaning hard on God right now. I pray your situation will soon lighten and your burden will be lifted.

Yay for straight line quilting! We should form a club or something. I like the clean look myself. Enjoy! And so many nice bindings to stitch down, too.

I always retreat to my quilting when my heart needs some tender loving care!

I LOVE straight line quilting! It's something I can do all by myself without much thinking or practice (practice time being non-existent LOL) And now with my newest, greatest philosophy - finished is better than perfect OR fancy, I'm ready to straight line my way through a bunch of tops!! Good job, Darlene .....

Hope your heart is on the mend. I'm sure Eli helps. He sounds like a real sweetheart, and it sounds like you had a busy and fun day together.

I really like your straight-line quilting. The middle quilt, and the perfect binding on it, really make me happy.

Oh hugs for a broken heart!! Quilting does help (and wabbits)

Mine wasn't a broken heart - it was just a sad one - when our one year old grandson Donnie got chicken pox and they had to cancel their visit from West Virgina - so I too dug into quilts - I have two bed size quilts finished (blocks were already made) and two more nearing completion - and then they can hop skip and jump over to the long arm quilter.

Hi Darlene, I just wanted to tell you that I bought a Darlene Zimmerman quilt kit from you a couple of years ago (it was red, white, blue, and yellow, with nursery rhyme, apple, and confetti fabrics). I recently put the kit together as a baby gift for our new GREAT-grandson. He's too little to appreciate it just yet, but his parents LOVE it! Just wanted to tell you how much that little kit was appreciated.
Hugs,
Susan
