Decorating with Quilts
I was born without the 'decorating gene'. I have so many quilts that I want to use in decorating but it just doesn't seem to happen.

I have an entry way that's wonderful for seasonal decorating however it's seldom decorated. So, today I decided to pull out some of my patriotic treasures, quilts, pillows, etc and give it a go. So, the first picture is what you see when you enter my home. Not bad, eh??? LOL
I took a close up of the end of the table that you can't see in the picture and then a close up of the top of the quilt rack.
And, last but not least is a picture of my kitchen table with my patriotic tabletopper I made a month or two ago.

All the pillows in the pictures are counted x-stitch. It was a major passion until quilting came along. :-)

I hope that my friends in Canada had a wonderful 'Canada Day'!

I love your patriotic table topper, where in the world did you find that border fabric????
I would love to make a little quilt like that for my table too!
the border fabric makes this quilt and of course love the jar with the flags in it, simple but very effective!

looks good....glad you made the effort to get stuff out....yes I have not got any counted cross stitch completed for ages as it is so quicker to quilt or do a stitchery.......

Well what would happen if you were a decorator? It looks stunning. May I ask what pattern was used for the hanging quilt? I like it a lot.

Your creations look fabulous. I love your quilt and the hanger is just divine. Do you have any plans for your day of celebration? It would be such a shame if your friends and family missed out on all that beautiful work...

Well for someone who thinks they are not a decorator you have done a fantastic job. I think it looks great. Very patriotic. :-)

You definately have the decorating gene when it comes to patriotic themes! The quilt in the entryway is stunning. It looks like a Barbara Brackman pattern called Follow the Drinking Gourd. Is that where you got the pattern? The topper is wonderful as is the jar of flags. Oh and your little bears are adorable. The cross stitch is beautiful too. I think most quilters gave up another needle art for quilting, don't you?

ROFL, you know, Dazy, we ARE twins cause I didn't get that decorating gene either!!!! I LOVE other people's decorations, styles, etc., but when I do it (and I DO get decorations out) it looks like I just plopped 'it' down and forgot to go back and put it in it's proper place!!! ROFL Now, your 4th decorations look sooo lovely!! You surely got more of that gene than I did---Mom, I wanted more of that!!! :0 I LOVE your table topper---you were holding out on us weren't you? :D And I agree with Kathie in NJ, that border fabric is just PERFECT with your 4-patches. I love, love, LOVE it!!! :) And is that a little quilt I spy hanging out of that basket UNDER the table??? I think you underestimate your decorating abilities, my friend! :D

Your decorating looks great, it's nice to see the things you've made all nicely displayed, all it takes is a theme.

Not bad for someone without the decorators gene. I'm also hopeless but can usually toss a few quilts around and set out some candles.

Perfect just in time for the 4th!

This is beautiful! So pretty. I keep saying I'm going to decorate with quilts--but the front of my house does get the afternoon sun and there are no window treatments since we're 1/4 of a mile off the road! One day!

What a pleasure that would be to find these upon entering your home! Great quilts and will we be seeing more as other holidays come along?
