Just Call Me Grumpy!
I'm very, very grumpy this morning so please bear with me! My vacation has come to a sad end and I accomplished absolutely NOTHING! I had a long mental list of everything I was going to do and accomplished very little and what I call NOTHING.
Mental list:
Clear off the pile of stuff in the chair in the master bedroom - No
Refold the pile of quilts on the chest in the master bedroom and make them look tidier - No
Rearrange the kitchen pantry - No
Prep several applique blocks for a few applique projects - No
Finish one or two UFO projects - No
Quilt one or two quilt tops - No
Prep more Quilter's Journey embroidered blocks - Yes (can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this project)
Clean my sewing room - Yes (it's a much happier environment)
Reply to e-mails and blog comments - No (I'm so sorry)
Prepare and send packages to a few friends - No
There was lots more on my mental list but it doesn't matter cuz I didn't work on it. I'm very unhappy with myself as I did nothing. The first week was ridiculously HOT here on the Surface of the Sun - it was easier to just lay in front of a fan and take a few long naps. The second week just went POOF - did have to work one day so I met a deadline but then POOF it was gone.
I'm very unhappy and upset with myself today!
Thanks for letting me rant.
Appreciate that you visited me today even though I'm not fit for company.

Darlene don't be so hard on yourself...that list of "to do" is enough for a couple of months. You needed the rest and relaxation more. A little down time will rejuvenate you for working on your list.
Oh rats . . . maybe - just maybe - if you speak to your boss, real nice-like *s* she'd give you a little more time. Seems like no one should be held responsible for lack of energy when they live on the surface of the sun *s*
Taking a nap in front of a fan is just what I would have done too! The heat just takes the starch out of a person.
Well Darlene, it probably worked out the best way for your health and well being. Rest in that sort of heat was obviously needed. Like Wendy said don't beat yourself up over it. Tomorrow is a new day and your list will still be there when you wake up. We all have moments like that, so your not alone, and we don't mind you ranting.
Don't be too down on yourself - time spent resting and recharging the batteries is not time wasted. Your previous post says you cleared your sewing room, so you are ready for action on the quilting front when time allows :)
I know just how you feel. I did the same thing when I took 2 days off after 4th of July. All I ended up doing was reading books. Thing is though I thoroughly enjoyed reading the books. Then someone sent me this saying: "Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted". So I decided I didn't waste a thing. Don't be hard on yourself you must have needed to recharge badly.
Sometimes it nice just to do nothing, the hard part is to accept it and not feel guilty about it.
One of my favorite sayings from Mary Englebreit: "How wonderful it is to do nothing, and rest afterwards." Don't be so hard on yourself -- you RELAXED and isn't that the most important thing to do on vacation?
Some of the stuff on your list is what I consider "work". You were on vacation...and isn't the purpose of vacation to rest and have some fun. Looks as if you did the things that you enjoy and that is what you should do when you are on vacation!
ROFL you know how "misery loves company" yada yada, well, I feel so much better now about my looonnng list that I'm so seldom marking anything off of!! Take it easy in the heat, Dazy girl, you'll hit your stride again! LOL Or you can just call me and we'll commiserate with each other!! :D
You did manage to bring a smile to my heart on more then one occasion, and you did bringa new friend into my life, and you did manage to inspire my designing mind, and well, you are just gorgeous. If that qualifies as nothing, you were certainly managed to do a lot of it. LOL
Oops, I have just reread my comment. It is early in the morning here, and still frozen. I guess my fingers, and brain, are still in bed snoozing. I am sure you understood what I was getting at. I will do an extra couple of stitches for you today, Darlene.
Oh Darlene, if it was that dang hot, I wouldn't be able to function. It was in the 80s here, reached 98 one day and I thought I would melt. And I don't even live near the surface of the sun like you do! Don't be so hard on yourself!
Well don't be too hard on yourself...you did what you wanted. Not exactly what you had planned but instead what worked for the day.
It's still there waiting, you'll get it done.
Just remember two things: Vacation does not equal LISTS. and of course my favorite! "All caught up is not a destination" Those piles will be cleared away...in your own time! if it is any consolation, now we can look forward to heat AND humidity! Yeah Monsoons!
Well....vacation is supposed to be restful....it does look like you rested at least. Don't beat yourself up please!
iT'S OK mS. gRUMPY!! You spent quality time RELAXING!! that's more important than tidying things. (I'm not a huge fan of tidying though I do like tidy. I wonder if there are tiny tidy elves I could hire.)
Darlene don't be so hard on yourself...that list was huge...why do we always set much bigger goals for our time than is humanly possible. You got a lot done. Just getting your sewing room cleaned is a wonderful thing.
I wouldn't have a speck of energy if I lived on the surface of the sun :) too darn hot. Be nice to yourself.
Sounds like you need another two weeks off! LOL!
Grumpy is going around these days. Let's hold hands and be grumpy together. It won't hurt nearly so badly!
(HUGS)
Sometimes you just have to putter around! The list will always be there. Besides, I agree with Libby, you live on the surface of the sun, for Pete's sake! lol Go for a dip in the pool, grab yourself a cold drink and vegitate! It's wonderful for the mind spirit and soul! ;o)
