Why I Blog????
I picked up the Autumn 2008 issue of "Artful Blogging" last week. A friend raves about this magazine every time a new issue is released but it's out of stock when I look for it. I have not read it from cover to cover instead enjoying flipping through it haphazardly and stopping here and there.
I stopped on a article about Amanda Soule www.soulemama.com and I have to quote a snippet that she wrote because it struck a chord with me and I hope it will with you, too: (I hope she doesn't mind that I have quoted her)
"I think often of the women storytellers before us, and the many ways in which their stores were told -- a chat with a neighbor over coffee; a quilting bee or knitting circle; reading groups. A community of blogs feels much like that to me -- it's like an ongoing conversation we have over tea as friends. It's never the whole story, and it never feels the same -- sometimes the conversation is light and silly, and sometimes it's heartfelt and serious, and sometimes, for whatever reason, we keep a lot of things to ourselves. Sometimes, we don't have much to say at all, except to share an image and a moment in silence. But all of these snippets of conversation together and in the intimate thread of the everyday, it tells our story. Like any good ongoing conversation with a friend, I don't know as though we'll ever run out of things to talk about. Let's put on some more tea."
I appreciate that you stop by to read all about my doings so come again and come often. Next time I put on more tea!
In Friendship!

What a wonderful way to put it! I began blogging so I could look back and remember some of the everyday things. The connections with other quilters and other women were an unexpected surprise. I enjoy every visit!
Lovely, and so true.
Well said Darlene!! Glad you shared that with us.
For me, it's a wonderful way to connect with other women who have the same ups and downs, that I otherwise wouldn't get to meet in person.
The best thing about blogging is the way we can reach out and "touch" one another--connect with people all over the world who share the same interests. I love all the friends I've made, and I look foward to hearing their stories over the course of time. But no, you STILL can't have whatever quilt I'm working on! ROFLOL!
PERFECT! Thank you for sharing that...when I think of all the women I chat with every day and then think what it would be like without that...oh my!
So very well put. My mom would write daily notes on calendars..little mini journals of her day to day goings on. That's what blogging feels like to me. I'll be back for some tea :-)!!
Wonderfully said. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day!
Wow, Amanda is really good with words. She has an awesome blog and I don't use that word much. Perfectly said. So glad you quoted her on your blog. It was a very sweet and touching statement. And so incredibly true. We are often cut off from people in society now. Families used to live together or near each other. My dad grew up in a home with his older brothers and sisters that moved in with their husbands. Later when he had his home with my mom his cousin lived next door, his sister and brother down the street and extended families very close. Of course this was a very long time ago and soon after I was born (the youngest) we moved into a different neighborhood as everyone was "moving up" some. Anyway that and the fact that we live in our homes and pretty much keep to ourselves. A blog certainly keeps you connected to people you have things in common with and enjoy.
Amanda put in words how we all feel, I sure can relate. It's so true for me, the connection to other women sharing a common thread. I haven't seen that magazine before I'm going to look for it.
thanks for sharing this quote..I totally agree with what she said.
That is such a nice quote. Such a nice way of saying things.
Thank you for that! I am so proud to be a quilter. ^_^
What a beautiful and heartfelt quote - I love it! Thank you so much for sharing it.

The Blogland I know is better than Disneyland ... and I LOVE Disneyland!
Hugs - Lurline.
I couldn't have said it better! I can't imagine what my life would be like without the stories shared by bloggers.
