Letting It All Hang Out!
I have to do this - I can't help myself. LOL :-)
Two years ago Vicky and Patti encouraged me (well, Vicky shoved me off the fence) to step into the world of hand applique and I was instantly smitten.
So....drumroll, please....the following are my "in the works" hand applique projects.
This one is "Pumpkin Hill" by Bunny Hill Designs (it was the first project)
99.9% of the applique is finished - assembling and embellishing is all that's left. Sigh! :-)
This one is "Baltimore Album Meets Country Cousins" (3 of 12 blocks completed)
This one is "Rabbits Prefer Chocolate"
99.9% of the applique is finished - assembling and embellishing remains! :-)
This one is "Vintage Memories" by Blackbird Designs (Cheri Ralston)
And, last but not least - a design by Kim Diehl but I can't recall what it's called - again all the applique is finished on the blocks. :-)
There's a poll in the margin; which one do you think I should finish first?
In the meantime I'm going to get busy on one or two more. What the heck! :-)
I love it when you stop by - y'all come back!
In Friendship!!!!!

Totally awesome, Darlene!! My goodness, that shove off the fence was a VERY good thing, wasn't it? LOL. I voted for Pumpkin Hill! It's such a beautiful quilt!
Oh my gosh, have you slept lately???? I voted twice for both the Bunny Hill designs, totally gorgeous.
Beautiful applique, Darlene! You really must get in and finsh those quilts!
Hugs - Lurline.
Quite impressive! Love the bunnies and chocolates!!
oh I love them all.. I voted for the pumpkin hill, you are 99% finished, so why not finish it and cross that sucker off the list! gorgeous applique and yep, I am thinking you are NOT known for your sleeping! LOL
Lissa
I chose Rabbits prefer Choc so you could have it quilted and ready for Spring, then I would finish either Kim or Cheries cause those you could use all year round.
KEEP going your doing wonderful on your applique projects.
Kathie
I think you should send the pumpkin hill to me to finish. LOL
I think they are all fabulous.
Love and hugs Gina xxx
Darlene your applique is just amazing...I dabble with applique...I need someone to shove me off the fence...LOL!
Wow, I'm absolutely overwhelmed by all those beautiful stitched appliqué blocks you've already done...I simply love it!
I'd choose the Pumpkin Hill or Rabbits prefer Chocolate Designs by Anne...why? Perhaps if you'd work on a project that is a tiny bit nearer to completition you'll get the satisfaction of a finished quilt earlier and thus get a higher motivation... {btw, I love Anne's designs, so I'm a bit biased...although the other projects are adorable, too}.
I think after seeing the result of the poll you'll know on which one YOU want to workanyway - it don't necessarily have to be the project that won ;o).
Have fun,
Julia
Wow....only two years?!?! Your work is beautiful! I think you should finish the bunny quilt as you are allllllmost there. :)
dawn
They're all adorable Darlene. I voted for the Kim Diehl project, but maybe that's because I'd like to make some of those blocks myself!
*hugs*
Tazzie
:-)
Hooray for all the stitching you've done thus far, they're all so yummy. I voted.
I love them all....I'm glad Vicky pushed you off that fence. I voted for Kim's. :)
Beautiful. Love them all.
Fantastic!!!!! I always have to have some kind of applique project going .... it is so relaxing to just pick up and work on.
I love applique and yours is gorgeous!! What a lovely range of projects you have been working on.
Absolutely gorgeous. I have a several year old applique project (Cinnamon Stitches by Piece o Cake designs) that I just can't finish because I don't like doing applique...but I LOVE applique done by others!
They are all fantastic. I think I would finish the rabbit quilt first - that way when spring comes it will be finished and ready to display.
Oh my goodness.. GORgeous hand appliqué! I do love the bunny ones. But all are wonderful!
WOW! Way cool! LOL. Love them all. I haven't picked up my hand app. since earlier this year. Now the bug has bitten me again! And I have hexagon flowers to make! I can't start another project! Oh maybe I should go read the post over at Unwritten. ;o) ooxx`jodi
Your applique blocks are gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing them with us! I love them all! I'd vote for finishing the ones that are nearly done first, then slowly work on the others so you can start new projects!!!
They are all lovely. So hard to choose just one.
They are all so beautiful, I will have a difficult time voting for just ONE! You do such lovely work. I'll come visit, and you can teach me how to do all those wonderful things. I'm askeered to do it by myself!
What beautiful projects! I would have a hard time deciding too if they were mine. :^)
I am impressed! Your blocks are spectacular. Keep going, I know you will finish!
Well you can't go wrong with Bunny Hill but I think the cousins should come first. They are all darling.
OMGosh!! Do you ever sleep? Your applique is beautiful.
All of the projects are just lovely. You just might have inspired me to start a new applique project. I have been spending all my 'handwork time' knitting because I am trying to use up the yarn stash.
I am speechless! Amazing work, girl!
Darlene, How beautiful they all are. I chose the Country Cousins but think you should pick a different one each week and work on that one for the week.
Oh my. What wonderful applique projects. I have the pattern for Baltimore Country Cousins and the background fabric purchased. I am just drooling over what you have done!
I have begun a few of these same projects. Thanks for posting the Kim Diehl blocks. I love her work and maybe need to revisit some of it.
Oh Darlene, you better finish them quickly because just wait till you see Anne's newest applique project, Autumn House. You'll be adding it to your projects. Check it out on Fat Quarter Shop's site. Were your ears ringing over the weekend? I was talking about you with Barb and Mary. They just love ya!
I say finish the Pumpkin Hill. That way it will be ready next fall to add to your decorations! Great job on everything!
I love the Pumpkin Hill one the best. And since it is almost halloween, and you are sooo close to finishing...why not set yourself a deadline to finish before the bewitching hour of Midnight on Halloween?!?!?!
Or you could send it to me to finish for you...no tricks, only treats :)
Or you could start something new!!
Here is the website of a fun Canadian designer whose designs can give you some new project ideas:

Enjoy!!
Wow!!! Those are all so beautiful!! I am partial to the Bunny Hill designs and you're so close to being done, so I'm voting for those two. My big sis is an awesome applique-er (don't think that's a word lol!)
I voted for the rabbits. That way you'll be ready for spring! Great job on the projects. They are all lovely.
I'm smitten with all your applique projects..I love applique but have not done very much. I'd finish the one you feel most inspired to do. These are so incredible..I love it!
I just love the Bunny Hill ones! You have done such a lovely job on all of them. I voted for the Rabbits prefer Chocolate because that is my favourite.
Have a great weekend!
These are ALL so gorgeous!! I have voted! I love the 'bunnys love chocolate'!
Ahmmm hmmm...did you have to remind me of the Rose Whig pattern ... I have that one on my bad conscience too...but I have actually made a little bit more than you...lol...maybe we can help each other here... ;o)
What beautiful hand applique! I like your taste :0)
Bunnies prefer chocolate is my favorite. They all are so well done. I do machine applique work. I do so admire hand applique and can do it but carpel tunnel trouble limits my hand sewing. Bonnie in Tx.
What a wonderful lot of gorgeous applique! I love the Kim Diehl blocks! I am a bit prejudiced...I love her work!
I love them all, you have been very busy! I started some applique and it is sitting around aging. I am not too good at it, I'm afraid. I love the first one you posted (or first on the page, I should say.)
Gorgeous blocks Darlene !!
Which one to finish first ??
I could not choose :-)
Well which one could you use first?? The bunny one could be good for this April, but I vote for Kim Deihl's!! All fabulous work Darlene!
OMG, these are gorgeous. Glad you got off the fence, your talent needed to be shared.
Teresa
Wow! I was surprised when I saw that someone would actually be working on so many applique projects at once, especially when some are so close to completion. Then I started counting the applique projects I have going (one from as long ago as 20 years) and was totally shocked that I have 10! I guess I better get back to work on them. Thanks for the inspiration.
I'm jealous, I have many of these same projects started... where does the time go???
Geeze Darlene, they are all so cute. Great colors and fabrics and all. Just pick one and go for it! (I would choose the one that is most complete--quicker gratification)!
WOW - you leaped in to the world of applique!! All so wonderful. I love Pumpkin Hill ... I have looked at the pattern and thought about making it!!
They are amazing! There's so much work there. They are all beautiful. The Kim Diehl one is a pattern I've had my eye on. Thanks for showing these gorgeous photos. I voted for Vintage Memories.
Well - I missed your poll - but I vote with the majority - Pumpkin Hill. Just because it fits with the season! Good to see you gertting back to these projects - each is totally lovely and will be marvelous finished. But of course you can start something new at the same time if you want to LOL!
Story of my life - once again trying to catch up with my blog reading.
So many beautiful projects. I like Carrie's idea also - one a week, rotating until they are done. It's always fun to start something new - it's sometimes a little harder to finish. I LOVE them all.
Hugs - karen
Wow, these are very beautiful!
Beautiful applique Darlene
