While 25 Charming Guys and Girls were busy working on tote bags yesterday I took a road trip across the Valley of the Sun to visit The Olde World Quilt Shoppe in the north valley.
We are very blessed to have quite a few fabulous quilt stores but this one is drop dead gorgeous. I don't get to visit very often (it's 60 miles from me; definitely not my neighborhood quilt store) but I try to get there a few times a year. Sisters, Dee & Whitney & Dee's daughter Jordan are very welcoming and have worked very hard to make their store just as welcoming.
This is one of my favorite spots in the store. :-) There's a comfy sofa across from the fireplace where you can sit to peruse books, patterns, etc. I didn't take a bunch of picture but trust me when I say that the walls are covered with beautiful samples. They do it ALL, large quilts, small quilts, wool, applique, etc.
I don't need an excuse to visit this beautiful store but yesterday Carrie Nelson of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co was having a book signing for her new book so I HAD to go. LOL
That's Carrie holding court with one of her many fans. :-)
I didn't spend much money because I'm on that silly budget. I did leave a Minick & Simpson kit that I wanted so badly - Big Sigh! :-)
edit: I think I've misled you - the kit I wanted oh so badly was for the pattern called "Seaside" not the quilt on the front page of the website.
If you live in the Phoenix or surrounding area you really need to visit The Olde World Quilt Shoppe - you deserve the treat. And, don't leave it for "Someday" - do it soon.
I haven't been doing much sewing lately but I came home yesterday afternoon very, very inspired. If you need me I'll be in my sewing room the rest of the day. teehee
I appreciate your visit and your comments. Thank you!
In Friendship!

Oh and check this out....hubby leaves next Thursday to Phoenix for a few weeks working! I don't get to go! Somebody has to keep an eye on that 16 year old! Hee!!
Sounds like you had a great day, and meeting up with Carrie, too. Perfect! I love that M&S kit! You're a strong gal for walking away from that one!
What a great day you had...It is hard sometimes to walk away from something you want to buy, but that is the way of it...sometimes we have to.

I had not heard of this shop. Looks like a good one. Must have been hard to leave behind kits you loved so much.
Sounds like such fun and the store is gorgeous! I would love to go someday.
What a lovely shop. I love the fireplace how nice to have a place to sit a ponder your purchases. So lucky to have this shop close to you.
How fun that you got to go shopping and that you got to see Carrie! I can see why you love that Minick & Simpson quilt - it's TOO CUTE! So glad to see you out having some fun (but we missed ya at the party)!!
Wow!! sounds like you had great day. I just purchased Miss Rosie's Quilt Collection. Can't wait for Madeline quilt pattern to come.
What fun to have a road trip - and come home with something special. Enjoy the kit.
What a nice road trip! And meeting Carrie too~ you lucky gal! I don't think I'd have been able to leave the kit behind~ I have been admiring that pattern in my magazine for days! ;-)
What a great shop, very welcoming in it's decor. I'm on one of those silly budgets from now till who knows when too. Lucky I have stash and that's what it's for.
Yay! You have your book now!

I wish I would have known about that shop when we were in the Phoenix area all that time. Maybe I'll get there sooner or later. Looks like a great shop.
I think you should go back for that House Bar Harbor quilt kit Darlene!! It's gorgeous!
Sounds like a good day. Now we'll look forward to seeing what comes out of your sewing room.
Did you come up for air yet, Darlene?
Just once in my lifetime I'd love to visit a really large, full service quilt shop like this one. 60 miles away you say? Heck, that's just a hop, skip and jump for most of us.
But you have an excuse to go back...for the kit you left behind. *wink*
Thank you for sharing this. I didn't know about this cool shop. Of course I've never been out that way but I'll keep it in mind... just in case.
Yep, great share! I'll bet it was hard to leave that kit behind but I commend you for your self control. Way to go!
Oh I can't wait to see what you're up to big sis!!! Maybe just a few more pictures next time you go...pretty please?
Sounds like a really fun trip. I was going to try and be good, but Kim and I went to the store and I bought my first piece of Kaffe! Hope that doesn't lead me down that road... LOL
Sounds like you had a great day! Wish I could have made it to the shop. I would have loved to meet Carrie. Thanks for sharing some pictures from the shop. I must get to that one some day, although it's about 60 miles from me too!
Lucky you!!1 Sounds like you had one great day. I also love that kit and have been resisting buying it!!!
It's so hard to resist these wonderful patterns and kits! But great to hear you are spending the day in your sewing room working on something fun!
How fun! Sounds like you had a wonderful day. It's probably a good thing that shop isn't in your neighborhood -- you'd probably stay in trouble!
What a treat, Darlene! Maybe someday Mr. Squash and I will be able to drive down there and see it with our own eyes!
Cheers!
The store looks amazing. It is great you got to meet Carrie.
Oh, Darlene, I picked up a copy of the book tonight, and your quilt is gorgeous!! I'm so excited for you! I love this book so much. Plan on making a ton of them!
Oooo... Thanks for the hot tip! I AM also on the surface of the sun, but, oh my, that IS far. Is it really worth it?
Thanks for the visit! I will make it there one day! Lovely quilt shop! Cheers!
