The Number 12

I don't make New Year's resolutions; really don't like setting myself up for failure. I suffer enough failures in my life I certainly don't need to create more. LOL

In my stitching and quilting world I do like to set goals; albeit sometimes they are silly ones but goals, none the less.

So, in the spirit of setting goals and such this post is brought to you by the number 12. Why the number 12? No, not because it's 2012 (although 12 in '12 is catchy but maybe a bit cheesy) LOL!! I've had to make some huge adjustments in the time I spend in my sewing room. I really miss rotary cutting, measuring, fondling fabric, planning projects, etc - it's very therapeutic. I've been thinking about this quite bit in recent days and came up with what I believe is a realistic solution. I told myself to think small - small doable projects - small quilts, x-stitch ornaments , Christmas gifts, etc. And, then it happened - the inevitable light bulb moment - LOL. I can make a small quilt a month, a x-stitch ornament a month, etc. So, 12 months = 12 ornaments, 12 small quilts, 12 Christmas gifts. I'm really excited about my goals featuring the number 12.

So, what do you think - can I do it? I hope so because I'm planning to do a post at the end of every month brought to you by the number 12 and I want to show successful results not failures.

Come back later today for an exciting announcement about Christmas Through The Year.

That's a great plan! Plus if it's portable it can travel with you around your home as you tend to your mom and family. Good one!

Good Luck! I'm planning something similar. One quilt finish, one Christmas ornament cross stitched, and hopefully one Christmas gift made. Are you taking over Christmas Through the Year? I didn't sign up last year, and was very sad that Allie wasn't continuing this year. Pretty please???

I'll be trying to join you! I've actually started the first of my Christmas 2012 gifts. Just need to finish these up and I'll snap a picture. I did make up a list of things I would like to make as gifts for 2012 holiday season. I hope to keep to that list. Happy New Year to you and your family, Darlene!

Great minds think alike! I have been thinking about doing something like this as well. I thought about doing all Christmas this year, but found some other smaller projects that I would like to finish up as well. I know you can do it!

Happy New Year Darlene.....great idea to work on 12 projects....I think we set ourselves up for failure sometimes with setting unattainable / unrealistic goals.....yours sounds very achieveable!

I like the idea of 12 small projects- very doable and it would make me feel productive. I've been pondering doing a x-stitch ornament a month and I think this is the year. Have a happy 2012! Take care!

Oh, you know I am in...especially the x-stitch ornament a month. I love your idea of hooking it up to the number 12. I also like the one gift per month idea.
