Vintage Modern and Me
I've been spending lots of time in MY "Happiest Place on Earth" this week - it's just too darn hot to do anything else. Ugh!!! I was out and about quite a bit on Friday - it was 113 degrees. Bigger Ugh! Yes, I do live in the desert, the Chamber of Commerce calls it the Valley of the Sun and you already know I call it the Surface of the Sun, so I know to expect lots of heat. I swear the sun has a bit of turbo boost this year! This seriously menopausal woman does NOT like it. LOL I just want to go on record that I'm ready for much cooler temps.
I'm excited to share what I finished Saturday evening. The pattern is Boardwalk by Fig Tree Quilts with Vintage Modern by Bonnie & Camille. A couple of months ago I made Spools by Camille using California Girl by Fig Tree so I thought it was only fair to switch things up a bit. :-)
(I plan to bind it with the same red in the corners - yum)
I feel the need to clear up some confusion regarding The Accidental Quilt I showed you a few days ago. If you visit Christine at Auntie's Quaint Quilts and scroll down to her July 14 post you'll see a quilt made using Vintage Modern. OK, in my moment of disengaged brain I thought it was Picnic from Scrap Basket Sensations by Kim Brackett. (see the resemblance) After I started assembling blocks and putting them on my design wall I realized the quilt on Christine's blog was not Picnic. Oh well - my moment of disengaged brain resulted in my beautiful Picnic quilt. The one on Christine's blog is beautiful, as well. :-)
Our buddy, Cooper peeked around the quilt - I hope you'll say Hi. :-)
So how many quilts can one make with a fat quarter bundle of fabric? As many as one wants - LOL
Look at all the Vintage Modern fabric I still have - stay tuned I have a couple of ideas. For now, I need to step away from it. It's time for a slight change of pace. :-)
If I'm not playing with my Netbook then I plan to do some embroidery - it's been way too long.

WOW Darlene, your quilt is beautiful. VM is a lovely range.
Have fun-- The best part about small projects is that you can take them anywhere.....
I am curious to know why you picked the desert to live in. Or did it pick you?
Beautiful! I love Vintage Modern. I thought it was hot near Philadelphia - I'll stop complaining - LOL! My Lilly says "Hi" to Cooper - Woof Woof!
I agree...way too hot this last week. I love the movement in Boardwalk.
Another lovely quilt top! Can't wait to see what you are stitching with those threads!
Boardwalk is beautiful and the red binding will be perfect.
Your Vintage Modern quilts are gorgeous!!!!!!!! LOVE.
You are HYSTERICAL! This heat is killing me too (between hot flashes and the sun I'm pulling my hair out)!! My whining aside, I love your quilt - it's just beautiful and your fabrics are just refreshing and lovely!!
Another beautiful quilt! That must be why I got the name wrong in your matching game, I assumed it was the pattern Picnic not the one from Christine's blog Ritzy Crackers. I think it turned out great, I'm loving all things Vintage Modern. Have fun stitching today.
Your Boardwalk quilt is outstanding. And I love the Picnic quilt too. Boy that's hot, I would be inside sewing too.
Now I get it! :-) I love all the Vintage Modern going on over here. Such a sweet collection.
Love your Boardwalk! Vintage Modern is really speaking to me. As soon as I get back from vacation and finish up a couple of obligation things, I'm going to have to cut into my fat eighth bundle! You're such an inspiration! Stay cool!!!
Love both of your quilts! Its so good to see you busily sewing! Have a great week!
Ugh is right! This menopause thing is not for the faint of heart. Eve and I are going to have a little discussion when I get up there. Hot flashes should be banned when it is this hot! Your Boardwalk quilt is just gorgeous in that Vintage Modern - I LOVE that border!
Christine's quilt looks like Picnic to me! Cooper is darling - he makes a handsome quilt prop!
Looks like you found the never ending fat quarter bundle. I've been afraid to cut into my Countdown to Christmas because I don't want to use it all up, but our fabric is so much prettier once it is in a quilt. Here's to cooler temps and -ppppp to the hot flashes. :)
Boardwalk so absolutely wonderful...love the border, love the fabric. Oh Picnic is fantastic! I just love everything you've been up to!
I love the blocks in the quilt. Hi Cooper, long time no see. I feel your pain with the hate, I hope we don't get the same this year.
Boardwalk is a beauty!
It was too hot to do anything but stay inside and sew today here too. I can't wait for Fall, summer is not my friend.
I love your quilts. I am living in the Valley also. Can you believe how hot it has been this year? Seriously, can it get any worse. My car was 115 outside. Remarkable.
I love both quilts DArlene, great job. The pattern Boardwalk is so pretty I will have to find that one for myself...and Picnic is always one of my favorites.
WOW!! YOU have been SEW busy!! Love your creations and look at all the lovely fabric 'left-overs'!! Don't you LOVE left-overs!! Sew yummy!
