DON'T LOOK!!!! (ok, don't say I didn't warn you!)

You're looking at a picture of my "walk-in" closet in my sewing room. OK, so I can't walk-in - LOL - but I can reach. LOL ;-)

The time has come for me to "gut" my sewing room, including the walk in closet. Yes, it's time to take a long serious look at everything and make some reality based decisions. i.e. am I ever going to use "that". I've made arrangements to borrow a couple of 6 foot folding banquet tables to set up in my living room and I'm going to start the big sort. Of course, it'll be very interesting to see if I can really get rid of some of the stuff but I must do it. I have boxes and boxes of fabric in a storage unit away from my home. I'm planning to bring one box home at a time and sort through all of those, as well.

So, stay tuned for updates of the BIG SORT. teehee

Cherries Jubilee Update!

Thank you so much for all your help - the links, etc to help me find Cherries Jubilee. I knew I could count on you! I have three charm packs coming from Over The Rainbow (they will be shipped today - woohoo) and late yesterday afternoon I found this tin box with one charm pack enclosed. I should be able to do something really, really cute with four charm packs (each has 45 charms). I'm still coveting some yardage but we'll see! :-)

At least your walk in closet looks used! lol I did a clean up last year. I ended up bringing a big box of fabric to my Mother in law to give to her church. They make quilts for under priviliged children. I was surprise at how much I was able to give away. One advice, once you've placed it in the box, don't go looking back. You'll pull a whole bunch of stuff out. Ask me how I know ;o)? I did a small cleaning recently and that's exactly what I did and took most of it out. If you haven't used it in years, chances are you wont now, that's what I kept telling myself. Looking forward to seeing what your creative mind will come up with using the Cherries Jubilee! Happy quilting!

You are going to have so much fun...you will find things that have long been forgotten. I found that out last week when I cleaned and organized that end of my storage closet in the sewing room. It is truly a treasure hunt :)

How did you get into my house to take that picture Darlene? Very familiar looking...... Great idea to set up folding table to make the sorting easier. This summer I plan to go through my things and arrange things better. The cool thing is, I just know you are going to find some fabulous fabric that you had forgotten all about. It will be a chance for you to "shop at home"!

It looks like a wonderful space, Darlene. Just needs some straightening/weeding out, right? Any quilting friends available to keep you on track? Pam had good luck with her friend Diana helping her stay on task and take a realistic look at things. Just a suggestion.

Good luck with your clean up and re-sorting. And have fun with your new purchase of charm packs -- thats the way to do it, you gotta get rid of stuff every so often so you can buy new stuff - LOL.

Darlene, a couple of years ago I brought over 500 yards of fabric to the good Nuns down in Temecula at a retreat, and it didn't even make a dent. Good luck! LOL

You've probably been quilting longer than I have, so it might be easier to get rid of stuff. My stuff is only five years old. It's tough but I'm doing it. Slowly but surely! Now if I can stop buying duplicate things!!

Can't wait to see the 'after' shots!

(Hugs)

When I was a new quilter, my MIL cleaned out all of her quilting supplies and reorganized her room. On a visit there was a LARGE box of things she was going to get rid of and I was welcome to go through it and see if there was anything that stuck my fancy. We plopped on the floor and talked while I pulled things out of the box. Every (I mean EVERY) thing I started to put aside to bring home she suddenly realized she couldn't part with . . . an old favorite, necessary to complete a project, how did that get in here, etc. I went home empty handed and her box was empty *s*

You are going to be so pleased when you finish. And it doesn't take as long as you think.

I am looking forward to seeing the results.

My closet looks worse (if that's possible) and I just moved here. I have a lot less room and although I put things neatly in the closet - it wasn't organized that well and I've made a mess pulling things out. I also have 3 rolls of batting which take up a ton of space.

At last a room or closet I can identify with as it looks very similar to mine. Good luck with the big sort. Keep us posted.

Oh my - boxes and boxes off site? You are SO courageous to tackle this. We'll be eagerly awaiting reports of your progress.

I can't wait to see what you do with it! And your closet isn't nearly as bad as my sewing space. I won't even share a pic of that!

Oh what a nice storage closet. You'll be so glad when you get it cleaned up and you can open those drawers again. I set up a wonderful storage closet (have more than one actually) but it needs straightening up again desperately. Hope I can get to mine like you're doing.
