Smitten or Bitten???

I can't decide whether I'm smitten with or bitten by the small quilt bug!

I've seen some small quilts around the Land of Blog over time and recently - I must make some - I simply must!!!!! I've been thinking about this for a couple of days and yesterday while standing at my cutting counter I was suddenly distracted. Over on the far side was a nice stack of 1/2 square triangles with the triangle paper still attached; leftover from my Sallie's Quilt project. I only needed 4 for each block but made 8 instead - why? I had an idea formulating in my mind but that's all changed now - teehee!

I cut them apart, sorted and pressed them. I needed to make four more because I only had 32 and wanted to make a square quilt. I was having a ton of fun so I made two of these little cuties (a surprise for a friend who's encouraged my small quilt bug). I've decided that no border is needed and I'll just bind them with something to provide a nice frame. At this point it's 18" x 18" so it's a perfect little decorative tidbit for my home.

I want to make a few more - teehee!!!! Such silliness, I know.

Thanks for stopping by - please come again and come often!

In Friendship!

I din't think that's silly at all -- you're so smart to use all your leftovers. And what an adorable quilt!

Very cute. I like small quilts too. Maybe a black or brown print would be good for the binding.

Good use for your leftovers. And no border fabric needed. I have been wanting to make some small quilts but just haven't found the time.

Hi Darlene,
Love this quilt and the fabric. I've made a few mini quilt myself and I love them. I actually make them from the left over corner pieces that you cut off when making a snow ball block or something similar. In one little quilt, I used 1" half square triangles, which finished at 1/2". I should dig that out of the box and show you a picture.
Hope you have a great day,
~Karen~

Once bitten, by whatever part of the quilting bug, it can be extremely contagious. The beauty in the minis is the time frame in completing them, almost instant. This one is such a sweet mini.

Great quilt, and there is a lot of satisfaction in getting a small quilt done fast. Love half square triangles and even better when you are using up bits.

I've been bitten, too. So far I'm just scratching that bite, but I do want to get going on one here pretty soon. Yours is lovely!

Nope - not silly at all, Darlene - just loads of fun! They will make great little table toppers or a picnic blanket for Thimbles and the Gang - and they can join Mr. Squash on the beach!
Cheers!

What a busy bee you have been! Lovely projects you have been working on!

My Baltimore Country Counsin has taken the back burner as I work on some hand embroidery. There's only so many hand projects I do at a time! ;o) Please allow me to be childish and say "I have more blocks done than you do" :p Thank you, I feel much better!

I did order the Bonnie Blue pattern. That is such a sweet quilt! On my to do list!

Hugs!
