Bits and Bobs
Last Saturday Carrie of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co was scheduled to do a book signing (surely you know she has a new book - Another Bite of Schnibbles?) at The Olde World Quilt Shoppe. So after much hemming and hawing I decided to take a drive out to visit with her and to see Dee, Jordan and Whitney (missed her). I'd also received an e-mail from Jan (my quilt retreat friend) telling me that she'd be there with a friend and would love to see me.
Carrie was the "Bell of the Ball", Dee and Jordan were super sweet and happy to see me (it had been a year since I'd been there - what is up with that?) and it was fun to see Jan and meet two of her friends.
I HAD to do a little shopping however I'd promised Mr Daze that I'd be good! You do know that being 'GOOD' is definitely overrated but I managed to be very 'Good'. teehee :-)
I grabbed the new Better Homes and Gardens Sew Scrappy magazine, a layer cake and background fabric of Count Down to Christmas by Sweetwater for Moda. Need it for some of my Christmas giftees! :-)
After visiting with everyone and looking around I headed home. When I got home I sat down to read my new magazine. I was anxous to see Sherri's sweet new pattern Gum Drops (in the lower right hand corner) but I was shocked to discover a pattern by Kathie (it's the cover quilt). It's definitely a delightfully scrappy quilt with elements of surprise. If you don't already own this publication then you really should. :-) Two of my favorite bloggy friends are STARS! :-)
The Christmas stitching continues with a vengence and I'm having tons of fun. No, can't show you! You wouldn't want me to ruin surprises, would you? 'wink'
Thanks for popping in to visit with me. I hope you come again soon.
In Friendship!

That's cool Darlene. I have this magazine too, it's a good one.
Darlene this is the hardest part of the year cause most of us are busy sewing for our secret santa gifts and can`t show anyone.
The suspence just kills me! enjoy your mags sounds like great fun.
Hello Darlene
It looks like you had a great day, the magazine looks great, we can't buy them here worse luck. Have fun sewing your christmas surprises.
sounds like a fun day.............
always nice to see old friends!!!!
must check out the magazine!!!!!
Unfortunately, Sew Scrappy is completely missing in action in the Nashville area - I've been looking for it since I saw it in blogland and can't find a copy!!
Oh, I love secrets. I have a few myself.
Love that top layer cake fabric. A lot of the shops around here DO NOT have the cute Moda fabric that I like so I don't really get to see any of it. Unless my bloggy friends blog about it!!
There is nothing better than a visit with friends at a quilt shop. I'm still waiting for that magazine to show up in Canada. I look forward to see what you have planned with the new fabric.
Just got the new schnibbles book in my mailbox too. And I love it. But have looked for this magazine and can't find it here in Norway.
Oh how fun! You did GREAT and thanks for sharing the layer cake. Enjoy being an elf! Perfect timing.
well how I wish I could have been there too to meet Miss Carrie in person!
sounds like you had a fun day, something you NEEDED I bet!
glad you like the magazine ;) thanks for your sweet comments.
Kathie
I had that magazine in my hand yesterday and didn't buy it! Darn! How cool that you got to see Carrie - I definitely would have made the drive too. I just got a bunch of Countdown to Christmas - I couldn't resist o:)
I'm going to have to find that magazine. Sounds like you had a great day with your friends. And what could be better than meeting at a quilt shop! Am very anxious to see what you are stitching. Nola
I haven't seen that magazine yet -- need to look for a copy. Sounds like you had a fabulous day. Love your new fabric, too!
I just got Carrie's new book, and I love it! But then I love everything she does.
Love the magazine and there are some great quilts in there! Kathie and Sherri are very talented ladies, right up there with Carrie as designers. Glad you found a LITTLE trouble to get into, but not too much :)
Yes, Kathie's quilt is amazing...the perfect cover quilt! Must have been fun to have been at Carrie's book signing!
Darlene, sounds like you had a very fun day, and I think you deserved a day of fun, I'm glad your were very good ; ))
I got some of that Countdown to Christmas fabric a couple of months ago, I'm trying to wait until December to cut into it, but it's been hard. I can hardly wait to see what you do with your layer cake.
Sounds like a fun day, Darlene, so glad you enjoyed it!
Darlene, What a fun, fun day!!! I've never met Carrie but occasionally we exchange an email or two and oh my gosh, she never fails to make me smile and usually I'm laughing out loud...just like I do when she posts on her blog. I've thought about trying to get into one of her quilt classes that she has been doing different places around Utah now and then, but I'm just don't have the physical stamina to do things like that ...DRAT!!! Ah well, it is what it is and we take what we get smile and run with it, right? So, I live vicariously through others who share their fun times at retreats and shop hops and that inspires me too. So great that you got to see your friends too, how in the world does the time get away from us so fast?
OH and your shopping, well, we can't possibly go to a fun quilt shop and leave empty handed can we? Blasphemy!!!
The magazine looks like one I would enjoy and of course I'm going to HAVE to spring for Carrie's new book, it goes without saying, it is a 'must have'.
Okay, I've rambled on long enough. Thanks so much for sharing with us. Before I go I wanted to ask how your hubby is doing?
Big Hugs coming your way...
Hmmm....*I have a comment on one of my comments...you know that saying I used, "It goes without saying"...it's always followed by whatever it is that doesn't need to be said...ever think about that? I mean, I'm only 60 years old, maybe I'll figure out the point of prefacing a statement with that when I grow up, but really, if you think about it...well, "It goes without saying"...*wink*
You picked up some nice goodies, Darlene.
Hi Darlene! I have been looking for the magazine, but didn't have any luck~ guess I need to re-visit the shops this week. ;-) Being good is way over-rated! Glad you had a good trip! Have a happy week!
What a fun quilty outing!
I can't wait to get my hands on that magazine...it always takes longer to get here! What's with that?! Also love the fabric!!
P
What a great day you had, now I must try and get my hands on that magazine.
What a wonderful day! I'm so glad you had a HAPPY day!
What a fun day! So glad to see you enjoying life - and stitching :)!! Hugs!
That Scrappy magazine looks like a real winner. Thank you for sharing your little "review" and kudos to so many nice people who were published.
It sounds like a fun day out! Looks like you stayed on a budget too;)
Sounds like a good time and some good old retail therapy. :-)
Haven't seen that magazine out. I'll have to go on the hunt. Sounds like a fun day.
What a fun event to go and take part in and to see your retreat friend and meet new friends...shopping as well... gosh, I'd say that was worth a drive besides seeing Carrie! P.S. Promises are made to be broken:) at least when it comes to quilt shops!
