Inquiring Minds
I've been working and finishing Christmas pressies/giftees for YOU. teehee!! During my stitching frenzy I was chatting with a friend about sending a pillow as a gift. Pillows are not easy to wrap or ship - light but bulky.
So, would it be tacky and/or rude to send a finished pillow cover without the pillow form? All YOU would have to do is purchase the size pillow form indicated on an attached tag.
Please tell me (us) your thoughts!
A sneaky peek at one of the finished pillow covers. It's stinkin' cute - even if I do say so myself. LOL
P.S.
P.S.
A finished wall hanging for Little Miss Shaye's room. I'm off to sew down the binding.

That little wall hanging is the cutest thing! Adorable. I think sending the pillow cover is completely fine. How wonderful that you got some Christmas gifts done.
Miss Shaye's room will be so cheerful with that wallhanging. I think sending a pillow cover is just fine. Enjoy your stitching.
The little wall hanging is adorable!!
too cute!
I would have no problem mailing just a pillow cover. and no problem receiving just a cover lol!
I think sending someone the pillow top and having them fill it is more than fine! I would definitely be thrilled if a friend sent me a pillow like that...not offended at all. :)
I don't think sending a pillow cover without the pillow is tacky at all. And anyone that would be bothered by it doesn't deserve the gift in the first place.
Some people! *wink*
I have received a pillow cover before and I sure didn't stop blogging with that person. It absolutely makes sense.
Sending the pillow cover is fine, but you could always add a Joann's gift card to cover the cost of a pillow form if it bothers you!
Your wall hanging is gorgeous!!!
If you send it to me without the insert I will be happy....lol....If you do feel a bit worried about it send some money to purhase the insert....surely it will not matter though...Hugs Kate...
The wall hanging is gorgeous! I'd have no problem about the pillow cover either, the forms are not expensive but the mail is for overseas especially.
Love that little wallhanging!....and I think it's perfectly ok to send the completed pillow cover...do you have my address *wink*
Darlene, Completely adorable wall hanging, you are such a "Wonder"full grandma! As for the pillow cover...I'm with you, the pillow is just too bulky. Not a thing wrong with just sending the pillow cover. From the little bit you teased us with, it looks delightful. You have been sewing and stitching up a storm haven't you? Ah yes, but after all, you are...Ta da da DAHHHHH WONDER QUILTER!!! Big hugs coming to you...
The pillow cover is absolutely stinkin! I would accept it in a heartbeat :)
And how is the darling Shaye? About time for a followup up photo of all the quilty goodness Grandma made for the room.
Sending the pillow cover would be wonderful!!! That wall hanging for Miss Shaye is so sweet! I am so behind on blogging after having the Dots for a week!!!
No tackyness at all! LOL!
And that wall hanging is just TOO CUTE!!!
Send just the pillow cover. Great idea!
I love the wall hanging, and so will Shaye I bet.
As for sending the cover without the inner, I'm sure anyone would be delighted to receive it and wouldn't think it was tacky at all.
It had better not be tacky! I've made a few myself, and the postage goes up soooo much when you package it with the filler as well!
I've just stuck to standard sizes.
I've often thought about the same thing, Darlene with respect to sending a pillow cover minus the insert. I think that's the best way, given the cost of postage these days.
Gotta get busy on my Christmas gifts. You're making me nervous!
that wall hanging is adorable!
I think it will make her smile for years to come!
oh please I don't think its tacky at all to give a gift of a pillow cover so many people have pillows they could use and if not go buy one!
Kathie
Miss Shaye's wallhanging is darling! And I think no need for the pillow form...the pillow cover would be an amazing gift!
I don't think sending only the pillow cover is such a bad idea. In fact, I think it is an excellent idea!
That wall hanging is adorable. Too cute for words.
Love the wall hanging. Which fabric line are you using for Shaye's room? My daughter needs to make a baby quilt using those colors for her friend.
And the pillow cover without the form would be an absolutely fabulous gift to receive!! Yikes, I haven't even started to think about holiday gifts.
Cute wall hanging! I've often wondered if it was OK to send just the pillow cover. Seems like everyone thinks it is! :0)
I thought of doing the same thing - I want to make my niece a big floor pillow with pics from her recent wedding - but didn't want to have to deal with a big ol' pillow form. Looks like the consensus is - it's ok!
Sending a pillow cover is more than acceptable. The gift is in the work put in the cover and not the fluff that is put between.
Love what you have been working on. Hope all is good on your side of the word!
I don't think it would be rude. Most people have an old pillow that needs a new cover anyway!!! Shaye's new project is adorable :).
I think sending just the cover is fine. It would be easy for the recipient to pick one up at the craft store. And lots of people already have a spare pillow in their home that would work in it anyhow.
Those projects look delicious! I would love to have a pillow like that and wouldn't think a thing of buying or making my own pillow form, but if your recipient needed you could send money for the pillow form or order it online and have it sent directly to them.
The wall hanging is so sweet. Good Job!
Are you kidding? I would happily supply the stuffing if I received a pillow cover. Postage is too crazy to mail stuffing when it is so readily available. I love little Miss Shaye's wall hanging! You have certainly been busy!
I was just telling Jen yesterday to make pillow covers as gifts for Christmas. I've made several in the past and gifted..some with the pillow form and some without. I'd say mostly without the forms when I lived overseas since I couldn't get them easily. One thing about a pillow cover it fits into a flat rate envelope. :-)
That wallhanging is so very cute! She is sure to love it (Thanks, grandma!). The pillowcovers? Well, if the person is a sew-ish type they will understand.
I personally would send the pillow cover & a JoAnne's gift card to cover the pillow form.
I would absolutely buy a pillow form to go inside such a lovely pillow top (at least the part I can see is lovely!)....What a great idea!
oh cute, cannot wait to see the whole thing! hope you're enjoying the nice temps here in AZ
Oh, I just love that little wall hanging - too CA-UTE! So glad to see you enjoying your stitching :)!! Goodness, I think the pillow cover is wonderful!!
Anything from you is always a treasure! I can't imagine anyone being upset about receiving a pillow cover.
I think sending the pillow cover is fine. In fact, I often take out my pillow forms and use them for pillows of different seasons, etc. I think anyone would be thrilled to receive a pillow cover already made! I love your wall hanging. You really have been busy! Nola
Oh.... I like what you did with those hand embroidery blocks! Love it! Thanks for sharing!
holy cowe youve been busy over there...LOVE the darling wall hanging!!!! wow Christmas prezzies, I guess its that time, and I think ANYONE who got a pillow cover as a gift would be thrilled!!!!!! send some of your motivation this way please:)
Hugs!
That's a great idea! Maybe you could do a little tutorial on how to make one...I'd love to know!
What a cute wallhanging for Miss Shaye! I would just send the pillow cover. Just taking the time to make a pretty pillow cover is gift enough. :)
Sweet Shaye's wall hanging!! Love it!
Not tacky to send a pillow cover at all - the swap's I'm in always are sent and received without the stuffing!
I would treasure a pillow cover (from you) - and most people have a tacky old pillow that they can recover and enjoy the new one.
The wall hanging is delightful.
Cute wallhanging...I love the idea about just sending the cover and a gift card to cover the form...might have to use that idea myself!
Although I have to say...I would love to just receive a cover myself...and wouldn't think a thing about not receiving the pillow form.
I'm getting here a little late, but I'm glad to read the responses, because I've often wondered the same thing. Do you have my address?? I'll be happy to furnish my own pillow form.
