Yesterday I finished my Starry Eyed Quilt Countdown to Christmas flimsy and I am beyond thrilled.
I discovered this pattern on the Moda Bake Shop last year and wanted to make it very badly. I'd already made several other projects using Countdown to Christmas and simply couldn't justify spending more money. So, I printed the pattern and added it to my 'someday list'. Sigh! :-)
Fast forward to 2012.
Not long ago I was chatting with my friend, Carol at Brown Quilts 4 Me and she mentioned that she had a fat quarter bundle of Countdown to Christmas and wasn't sure what she wanted to do with it. Well, I immediately sent the link to the Moda Bake Shop pattern and she was instantly smitten. :-) I like being an enabler. teehee! The pattern requires a layer cake and two charm packs (ironically I had four charm packs). She offered to share her fat quarter bundle with me and I offered to send two charm packs to her - TA DA - now we could both make this quilt. (insert happy dance) LOL
Carol and I have shared fat quarter bundles in the past and have some wonderful quilts.
We have lots of fun planning and sharing projects.
Carol, thank you so much for being such a great friend.
I appreciate your visit - I hope you're enjoying a pieceful day.
In Friendship!

I love the way your quilt turned out. It's no wonder that you wanted to make it STILL a year later. And, I need a friend like you both that can come up with the fabric I am short of. . .
Beautiful quilt - it's really pretty and now it's done before the holiday's.
Great trading for a beauty of a quilt. This one - quilt block style - is on my own "to do" list.
Beautiful, Darlene.
A perfect compromise between friends.
Fab.u.lous!! I love to hear about people sharing - especially fabric :)!!
I love hearing your story, it's awesome to share and work together. Your quilt is fantastic and it's has memories already.
now that is the way to share so you both can make a quilt. It is beautiful.
What a great story of sharing between quilting friends, and a great idea! Not to mention that the quilt is awesome!
I forget about the Moda Bakeshop site. Thanks for the reminder. I should check it more often.
I love this pattern and fabric line. Made the quilt myself last year. Still need to get it quilted. I'm so impressed you whip out your quilts so quickly!
wow Darlene the quilt looks awesome, well done.xx
I love it! Great design and colors.
Hope the white fabric you used on this beautiful quilt isn't the white you set aside for Snowman
A - Zzzzzzz. LOL
Keep on quilting!
Gorgeous quilt!
That quilt is also on my to-do list, along with a great many others. Countdown to Christmas was one of my favourite Christmas lines ever, along with Figgy Pudding, Fruitcake, and Blitzen.
Wow Darlene, I'm a tad envious because this wonderful quilt is on my wish list to do some time in the future. Beautiful... Big Hugs...
Love it Darlene.
Lovely! Good way to make a quilt happen! And you are both happy.
It is a wonderful design and excellent swap story!
I love this quilt!! Yours looks spectacular!! I made this same top last winter. I hope to have it quilted by Christmas this year. It is near the top of my quilting pile. :)
Ahhh, what will the world be like without such wonderful friends?
Lovely quilt.
What a great quilt! And how cool that you both have the same one now! :0)

Absolutely love it!! It's great to share fabrics with a friend. I'm so happy you both got to make it.
Sounds like you are mutual enablers! Perfect quilty friends for each other! Love how quilters work together to create masterpieces!
Love it! And I love that you and Carol inspire each other to quilt.
Being an enabler is fun! I L-O-V-E this quilt. LOVE it!!!
I think this enabler thing works both ways! It's not a bad thing though because look at the end result! You both have amazing quilts! I adore Countdown to Christmas and have been hoarding my FQB of it. It's perfect in that MBS pattern and it's easy to see why you love it! Three cheers for another fabulous finish!
I love it Darlene...and what a good friend to share the whole experience with (and quilt)!!!
Darlene, I love your quilt...it is stunning.
It's a great story for a gorgeous quilt - that's the best kind of story/quilt. I love both. ;)
I. Love. This. Quilt! Beautiful! I have some Countdown To Christmas that is waiting for a quilt. Hmmmm.......Sharing fabrics with Carol was a great solution! Things tend to work out, don't they? I hope all the fabric in my closet has a similar happy ending :-)
Checking on you! Hope all is well...you are missed.
Excellent networking! Not only is it a win win but you both kind of got to work on a project together!

Verrrrrrry nice!
Very pretty Darlene! And just in time for Christmas!!!
I am beyond thrilled that you were able to get this project completed! It is one of the few quilts that I've made exactly like the patten, how could I possibly improve on perfection. Mine's just home from the quilter, I need to get it on my guest room bed. I hope you're able to finish yours up and enjoy it this Christmas season too!
