On a Whim!

When it comes to stitching, sewing and/or quilting I seem to be flying by the seat of my pants.
Some would think it's a bad thing but for me it's all good!
Flying by the seat of one's pants can be lots of fun.

When I stop to think about classic quilts ... 9 patch and log cabin quilts come to mind.
 Would you agree?
So today, on a whim, I decided it would be fun to start making a bunch of nine patches.
They had to have dark corners and the same background print.

I have an idea for a setting but I need to make lots more blocks!

Love it. I should make one. It reminds me so much of the ones my granny made! She has been gone several years now.

I "do" classic, I "do" traditional and I "do" love nine patches! That blob certainly has left your house and looks like the sewing machine has taken over!

I don't really think those that came long before us had much of a plan .... at least not by the looks of my great grandmother's quilts! Sometimes they make the best quilts .....

Oooh, looking good Darlene. Sometimes flying by the seat of your pants is the best way -- it's certainly fun anyway!

I love the old fashioned quilts - never got into the new stuff and new fabrics. I even like one patch quilts - those cut out of random fabrics - about 6" square - and sewn together randomly - they remind me of old, gentle times. Love your little nine patches - I would often put nine patches somewhere in most of my quilts.

I love nine patch blocks! In fact, I'm working on some now in bright colors as leaders and enders! :0)

The quilting basics are the best, and the fun we can have after that is endless. Looking forward to seeing your creativity in action.

I just think you cannot go wrong with a good 9-patch! I too have been feeling the pull of the 9-patch, but I must not have my flying britches on. They are my favorite pair so I must go pull them out. I think the seat wore out, but I'll just slap a pretty 9-patch over it and call it good! :)

Nine patches and log cabins are my most favorite quilt patterns, so I cannot wait to see your finished top.
