I was awaken yesterday to the sound of raindrops on the skylights on the roof of my home. I excitedly jumped out of bed - could it really be rain - would we have a full day of rain (remember I've been craving rain) - was someone playing a cruel joke on me. It was definitely raining - WOOHOO - taking a peek at the sky indicated that it just might rain most of the day. Well - it was a very cruel joke cuz the sun decided to make an appearance and then wouldn't leave. Only rained for a little while :-(
I love to play in my sewing room on dreary, rainy days so when I thought we might have rain for the day I ran into my room and stood in the middle - "what to do, what to do"? I decided it would be the perfect day to prep handwork. I traced four Polka Dot girls for embroidery and then got busy prepping block #1 of my newest hand applique project - Vintage Charm in Simply Vintage. I must do more hand applique. I couldn't believe how rusty I was doing the prep. I'll prep block #2 later this week as I want to keep up with the project - I know 'famous last words' LOL - but I'm going to try. :-)
I hope you're having a great day! Thanks for sticking with me and stopping by. Come again!
In Friendship!

I love to sew on rainy days, but snowy days are my favorite. I hope you had fun with your applique.
Beautiful! I've really been yearning to get back to some applique--soon, I tell myself. I love rainy days too! Snowy days? What's snow? None of those days here, so I'll just have to hope for the rain!
What a prettyy block Darlene, I wish it would cool down here too, I want to get back outside to finish off the rocker. It's far too hot and way too many mossies.
OOps,above was deleted by moi! What I said was... that is a pretty block, I love applique.
What I wanted to add is... is it needle turned?
Oooh Dazy girl, another beauty in the making!! I have that book too...don't ya just love it???? If I were a prolific quilter I would say let's work on it together BUT you'd be finished and I'd still be on maybe Block #2 LOL. Another thing we have in common...love those rainy days (well,I should say, I USED to love rainy days---we haven't had one in so long I've about forgotten what they're like :( ).
We kept waiting for the call to tell us our son't soccer scrimmage had been canceled. No call..so off we went. Only to find that the field got not ONE drop! :::sigh:::I was hoping to enjoy it in my studio too...
Very pretty block Darlene! I will be looking for that pattern as I love applique - even on days when it doesn't rain. We've had more of those days lately than we need here in the midwest.
I remember how excited we used to get when it rained in Scottsdale - sorry it didn't last.
Oh that block is beautiful! I love that book. But right now I"m happy to get any sewing done!
Oh for some rain! I love a good rainy day but it just isn't happening here this summer....sigh.
I love it....you're making me want to pull out my applique projects. :)
Love the new block. What is a polka dot girl? I must see it please???
Is it embroidered??Sounds cute.
Isn't it strange how some parts of the world are getting too much rain, and the places that really need it are getting none? We need some too! I love the applique block you showed - it's just my style!
*hugs*

:-)
That's a really pretty block and I like the combination of colours you've used. Looking forward to seeing more :o)
Such a pretty applique block Darlene. Heres u wishing for rain and down here we relishing in the first few "perfect" spring days!!! lol
Your applique block is beautiful. I just prepped my block for the 4 seasons swap and could not believe how rusty I was too. It is one of those things that need regular practice! We had a week of rain and I was very sick of it!
One of my friends at the quilt store is going to be teaching this class starting in September. I love your first block, Darlene. The fabric choices are just perfect.
Some of that rain came this way, too . . . but we weren't home yet. A neighboring city received 2"!!!
Your handwork is stunning but please please teach me how to machine quilt, the star quilt is gorgeous. I need to learn how you do that...will you teach me....???
That's a beautiful block!
At least you got some raindrops. We've been able to see it raining in the neighboring community...but not one drop for our yard! Oh...maybe someday there'll be some for us.
Gorgeous block! Is it too early to lay claim to that one? LOL
It rained on me for like a half a block leaving the quilt shop last Thurs. night. I'm so ready for some moisture on the ground!!
Love that applique, I really do need to learn how to do that!
Lovely applique. Your finished quilt will be a masterpiece. Don't you love the slower pace of an applique project? It reminds me to take a breath and enjoy what I am doing.
Your applique is beautiful, my friend! At least you DO hand applique! I'm a lazy fan of the fusible applique.
Love to sew when it's raining - it's the best way to spend the day!
We are experiencing our "monsoon" season here, so we have been getting rain. Love the applique block. I, too, have been doing applique but currently by machine for a deadline.
I could jsut imagine you in your sewing room!! Nice post, and nicer handwork!!
Gorgeous block, truly lovely in every aspect! No rain here, I'm afraid... not even one fake, pretend raindrop... we'd take that; gladly!
Enjoy your creative process.
Love this block Darlene -- your applique looks beautiful!
Beautiful block, Darlene. So is the star quilt top you just finished.
Oh, how I'd love some rain, too. We got a little bit of sprinkle yesterday, but I want a huge down pour!!!
Oh that is so beautiful! Oh how I love that quilt! I too love rainy days! I'll open window and listen to the raindrops musical sound. Recently came home from our trip and wanted to check out what you were up too! You are such an inspiration my friend!
