A Needle, Thread & My Hands!

I really enjoy handwork and have found myself craving it lately. I've been doing quite a bit of hand embroidery but not much hand applique. I know exactly why - it's the prep - I wonder if someone would just prep for me? LOL

Here's what I've managed to finish the past few days:

The red work version of A Tisket, A Tasket by Bunny Hill Designs (block #4)

The appliqued version of the same. I'm not super crazy about my fabric choices but done is done. LOL

Then I decided I needed a new applique project. :-) I prepped and appliqued block #1 from "Fit to Frame: Pattern Thirteen" by Lori Smith. I enjoyed working on this little block and look forward to the other 11.

I looked across my bedroom, spotted this quilt on the back of a chair and took a closer look not believing what I was seeing. The binding was sewn on but not sewn down. How the heck did that happen? I love to sew down the binding and this has been quilted for a long time. So, I've been working on the finishing the binding.
BTW, this is my own design with lots of charm packs. If you've been reading my blog for awhile you might remember it. It screams 'Summer'. :-)

I hope you've enjoyed your visit today - thank you so much for stopping by - please come again soon.
In Friendship!
I just realized that I forgot one little thing - I'll show you later.

Your Tisket basket looks great. I am having the hardest time finding the right fabrics; I haven't even started. Your quilt is lovely and the colors are screaming summer. I'll have to go back and read up on its beginnings.

I love your quilt, good job designing it yourself. Nice job on the Buny Hill BOM's too. I'm thinking I need to look up that Lori Smith pattern, it's so cute. I totally understand about applique prep, that's why I have so much of it to do.

That is a wonderful quilt. I love the Picket Fence fabric. I did a Monterey Medallion by Terry Atkinson with that fabric. Fun!

OMG Darlene what a wonderful post...love you Tisket a Tasket blocks...and that little Lori Smith is as cute as it can be...but I'm hyperventilating over that quilt...I'm in love. Oh I have Prairie Paisley fabric that would look wonderful in that...how about publishing that pattern? Pattern designer!

I agree with Carol....pattern of quilt? It is wonderful!!
Love all but my MOST favorite is the little Lori Smith applique block....can't wait to see them in a quilt and will you be framing them? It screams....."I wanna go to Mary's house."

I'd love to have somebody prep applique for me too...then maybe I'd sit and stitch them. When you find them....tell them I have some things too. LOL

So funny about forgetting to sew your bindings down. Very pretty summer quilt.

I really like your fabric choices on your basket too! I wish I would have started doing this in redwork instead. Now it is on my UFO list and am a month behind.

Lori Smith patterns are great. I have a few waiting on deck.

The appliqued bunny block is my favorite followed by the Lori Smith block. I know I can't talk you out of them but I can dream! You remind me to go print out the Bunny Hill BOM for April. I haven't done it yet.

I would love it if you would publish that pattern too. It's a gorgeous quilt. That's funny that you didn't noticed sooner the binding wasn't finished. It will be ready just in time for this summer. The bunny hill BOM are so cute and the new applique block will make a nice quilt.
That reminds me I just found a UFO with all the appliques are prepped and ready to sew....don't know why I left it without sewing them down.

Love your Lori Smith block...I've just ordered one of her fit to be framed patterns...hoping to get a jump-start on Christmas for next year! Your tisket a tasket block is great too...I agree...it would go so much quicker if all of the prep work were taken care of!

Darlene, Have you thought about embroidering a stem stitch around the basket in a darker shade of green. That might make the basket stand out a little. I love you choice of fabric for the basket but it does get lost in the block. Take care and God bless, Cory

Everything is simply WONDERFUL. I think your T-A-T block looks very Easter-y with the soft, pastel colors that you've chosen.

Love your red, white and blue quilt. My favorite colors!

Your teasing was worth the wait, Darlene. Thanks for sharing!

Your basket blocks are just perfect. I love the wing on the little chick. I am almost finished with my block. You made me laugh when I ready that the quilt had not been finished. Too funny. It is a great pattern too.
