From My Heart!

Over the past few months I've received some thoughtful, surprise gifts from some blogging friends - these treasures touched my heart in ways that I can't express. I decided that I wanted to do something to thank them so I've been working on some small quilts to say thank you. These are the first four and I have a few more to do.

Do you remember these? A couple of weeks ago I made these four using one Civil War Crossing Layer Cake (by Moda). I finished quilting and binding these and they are now winging their way to their new homes. I'm not ashamed to admit that after I finished quilting and binding these I have been VERY fearful of sending them to their new homes. Why??? Well, they are not perfect - I did a very simple meandering so I fear judgement. If you know anything about me then you know that I seek acceptance and don't like judgement. So, I'd almost decided to just keep these and go shopping for some treasures to send. Then my sweet hubby reminded me that I made these from my heart with my hands and a very willing spirit for four lovely ladies. So, hopefully they won't be judged and just accepted as a gift from my heart. Sigh!!!!

So, tell me - do you think they will be surprised? I'm not looking for compliments just your thoughts!

I do appreciate your visit - come again soon!

In Friendship!

I can't imagine anyone not loving to receive a handmade gift from you...and the fact that they're darling little quilts lovingly made by you makes them even more special.

Oh Darlene, they will love them. Nothing better than a gift made with love. I know where you are coming from, though. I have only been quilting for about 3 years now and I often think my quilting might not be good enough. My dh says much like yours does, so I am trying to get over this. Your little quilts are just darling. Winona

A gift from a friend is always treasured because it comes from the heart!

I think whoever gets them will be very lucky and happy and see no flaws! They look great!

Here's the thing, Ms. Daze. The fact that you care enough about these people to send them such a wonderful gift means that they are the sort of person who will appreciate it. If you think they're awesome, then they are. It's that simple. (And having seen your work up-close, I don't think you have anything to worry about on that score either ~ it's awesome. Just like you.)

Darlene. A gift made by your own two hands is priceless. There is nothing better. They will absolutely treasure them. Especially if they know how to make things themselves.....they'll KNOW how much effort it took. This is a part of YOU, dear one, straight from your heart and straight into theirs.

By far the best gift of all comes from the heart and little Miss Speedy does it again....four wonderful little quilts that will go to homes to be treasured for years to come.

They are absolutely beautiful and I loved the way you photographed them! To me a gift that is handmade is so wonderful. I know that many people who do not make things with their hands probably wouldn't agree, but anyone reading your blog would agree 100% I love giving others my quilts because I think of them as a "hug from my heart".

I'm with Carrie and couldn't have said it better myself. Your DH gets it too. Don't doubt yourself when you have put so much thought and love into these sweet gifts. They are perfect.

I love them and the colors are great too. I agree with your husband, they are gifts from your heart. And don't you know, quilters love to get quilts as gifts from other quilters. I should do some little quilts for Christmas gifts.

What are you talking about?!?! These are gorgeous and anyone would be delighted to receive this gift...
especially a quilter who knows how much work went into it!

I second guess myself on that one too. But my dear mom keeps telling me to stop looking for flaws. Most of the people I give quilts or bags to are not seeing my mistake, but just the big picture...they can't believe that I would take the time to make them anything. So stop worrying and just enjoy the surprise that they will be receiving. That really is my favorite part! Surprising someone with a gift full of time and love!

Darlene you are way to hard on yourself....everyone loves to receive a handmade gift....and what is "perfect" anyway! Is that like "normal"?? I often ask what "good enough" means as well....any gift from the heart is more than "good enough"......those little quilts look awesome hanging up in the pic.....it's a wonder the wabbit crew didn't sneak off with them....!

They are sure to love them. One because they are handmade and from you. And two, because they are really very beautiful! They are all so soft and lovely.

They will be so surprised. I don't think anything is ever perfect. If they are lovely ladies, then they will know that it comes from your heart.

PS. Did I do well not giving you a compliment? I could go on and on about how beautiful they are. Your work always dazzles me!
