Ode to the Fifties!

Five years ago today I excitedly celebrated my 50th birthday! I truly was thrilled to be 50 and told everyone I knew that I was now 50. :-) I suddenly felt empowered - silly, I know! And, since then I've really enjoyed being 50-ish. I've never been afraid or ashamed to admit my age; afterall I've lived it so why not! :-)

Today I am quietly celebrating 55 and I can't help but smile because I'm going to enjoy telling the world for the next year that I'm 55. I feel empowered, yet again. More silliness? Maybe!

I've quietly looked over the past 55 years and feel pretty good - a good childhood; a good career; married to my Sweetie, Ron, for over 32 years; raised a wonderful daughter, Kristie, who has given me 2 grandsons, Seth & Eli. And, so many other wonderful chapters.

No big plans just a quiet day enjoying and celebrating in my own way.

Thank you for letting me share. Look out I'm a Leo roaring that I'm now 55! :-)

I appreciate your visit - thank you!

In Friendship!

Happy Birthday Darlene. Now you're double nickles! :o) I like to say that age is only a number, not a state of mine!
Enjoy your special day.

Happy Birthday...enjoy each day...love your positive attitude on your age. I have a stamp that says: How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?

I have to say that I, too, have enjoyed each age I have reached. Celebrate every day!

Happy Birthday! And good for you - you have the best attitude. When I turned 50, my inner 32-year old was not at all happy about it but have since found it to be ok.

Happy birthday Darlene. Hope you had a fabulous day. I agree with you, there is nothing better than being able to say your age, it is empowering. There is nothing scary about growing older, its a fact of life we can't do anything about so we might as well make the most of it!

Happy Birthday!
I met a woman on a vacation five years ago that was in her seventies. She said something very memorable. I had just turned fifty and felt kind of old! She said that being in her fifties was the best time of her life. The kids were grown, her parents still ok and she did not care what other people thought any more. And her economy was a whole lot better than when she was younger with kids at home. Since then I have enjoyed my age and taken her words to heart! Being fifty is pretty nice.
