Four Years Ago

The party is over at 112 comments.

We'll be back later to announce the winner.

June 11, 2006 I started my blog, Quilting Daze. I wasn't sure I'd stick with it because it was really new to me but four years later I'm still blogging. I'm not going to get philosophical about my blogging journey - let's party! LOL

It's all about the number 4.........................

Four reasons to visit my blog
Four Party Daze (Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday)
Four games
Four prizes

The rules - very simple because, quite frankly I'm going to be lazy!

Just play the game and leave your guess/comment. Very important - if you are set for "no reply" then you must include your e-mail address. See, easy peasy! LOL

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, June 15
*

Here we go - Good Luck!
*
Today's prize - Magnetic Pin Caddy by Clover

Today's game - how many pins are in the pink bowl? (you know I love guessing games - LOL)

Thank you so much for visiting my silly little blog. Whether you're a long time visitor/reader/lurker or first time visitor - thank you !

*

Let the games begin - see you tomorrow - day #2, prize #2, game #2.

Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow
is only a day away!

June 11, 2006 I made the leap into the Land of Blog and set up my Quilting Daze blog. It's been 4 years; hard to believe. Sigh!

I've been thinking, thinking and thinking some more about how to celebrate this fete. I looked back through my blog to see what I've done in the past.....

1st blogiversary: I had you guess how many quilts I had stored in my big red quilt cabinet. (prize was a beautiful hat box full of notions & such)
2nd blogiversary: I had you guess how many yo-yos were in the jar - Thimbles was hidden in the yo-yos! (prize was a sweet quilt embellished with yo-yos)
3rd blogiversary: I had you guess the contents of a sweet lunch box tin. (prize was the lunch box and contents)
*
So how should we celebrate this year? I'm looking for ideas and suggestions - what would you like to do to help me celebrate. Any prize ideas??? Here's your chance for you to tell me what you want!!!
*
By the way this is post #600 - I've either had too much to say or not enough to say. LOL
*
I'll be waiting to hear from you..........................until then I remain................

Between Charming Friends'
Quilt Along

The Charming Guys and Girls Club is having a "Between Charming Friends' Quilt Along" in the month of June! Please feel free to quilt along with us. :-)

It's really exciting because Kelly (our fearless leader) has chosen my "Between Friends" pattern - woohoo! I as incredibly honored and pleased when Kelly asked if she could make a mini version to offer as a quilt along. Naturally, I said YES!!! LOL

You have choices - my large version or Kelly's mini version.

You can find the pattern for my large version here. Feel free to download it - it's free from me to you! You can make it with fat quarters, jelly rolls, layer cakes, charm squares, etc. I won't bore you with weekly instruction because the pattern is very easy to follow. However, please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. :-)

Here's Kelly's adorable mini version. Visit her blog to get a schedule of the quilt along for her sweet quilt - it's made with two charm packs and background fabric.

I've already made my version two times so I'm going to quilt along and make the mini version.
*

Update on the Big Sort; De-stashing & De-Cluttering - I'm almost finished!!!! WooHoo!!! There will be one more De-stashing Sale later this week - I'll announce the exact date soon.
*

Thanks for visiting with me - I hope you'll come again very soon.

Creative Juices

While doing my de-stashing & de-cluttering (basically removing the 'stuffus') in my sewing room I discovered a few old projects. In a large ziplock bag I found this Faded Memories (Moda) project that I was talked into making and hated it from the moment I started sewing. Ugh! I remember sadly stuffing it in the bag! While cleaning I couldn't part with it - "surely I can save it", I said to myself.

OMG, OMG I have a plan and I think it's going to work nicely. Yes, I will have to call on my good friend Jack the Ripper but I don't care because I'm excited. I'm going to need fabric for an inner border and an outer border - keep your fingers crossed for me!

My Big Sort project has been incredibly successful. So much has gone to new homes and next week I'll have a bit more for sale but I'm almost finished. WooHoo!!!!

I decided it was time to enjoy my room and sit at my machine with a very happy heart. :-)

I'm off to play with Jack the Ripper and Faded Memories to make new memories.

I appreciate your encouragement and support during my BIG SORT. Kim at Magnolia Bay Quilts threatened to call Mr Daze to tell him all about my de-stashing - she's sure I need an intervention. He's been cheering me on. LOL

With a happy heart I remain....

Here's my May Schnibble flimsy X-Rated from Schnibbles Times Two by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. Tune in tomorrow June 1 on Sherri's blog and Sinta's blog for the Schnibbles parade. We got to pick the Schnibble we wanted to make so the parade will have a great variety!
I've been making great progress with my de-stashing and de-cluttering of my sewing room! WooHoo!!! In fact, I've been spending most of the day organizing the "Keep Pile". There are two boxes full of stuffus I plan to donate and my kitchen table is covered with goodies and treasures I hope to sell.

I hope you'll pop in tomorrow to do a little shopping.

I hope you're having a fabulous Memorial Day if you're in the U.S. and if you're elsewhere I hope you've had a great Monday!

I appreciate your visit - come again soon!

STUFFUS
(my made up word - LOL)

The "BIG SORT" continues and I believe it will continue for quite awhile!

There are cupboards, drawers, baskets, bins, boxes, etc full of STUFFUS. It's a bit overwhelming but rather than let it get the best of me I've laughed at myself. Seriously, why did I buy much of this STUFFUS and why do I continue to hold on to it?

I'm actually quite proud of myself because I've already emptied most of the overhead cupboards and 9 drawers. Whew! I'm working in the walk in closet today - this is a daunting task! (6 of the 9 drawers in the closet are totally empty - WOOHOO)

A very good friend has given me some sage advice about doing the BIG SORT. One bit of advice is to use a large space to move stuff into - so here's my kitchen table - not showing you the rest of the kitchen (the island, the counters, the stove top) Yes, the stove top - LOL!!!!

Besides asking myself why I purchased this stuffus and why I continue to hold on to it I've also been asking myself why I continue to sew/quilt. I mean seriously this is absolutely ridiculous!!!!
*

I can't seem to answer those questions - can you?
*

Stay tuned for more "BIG SORT STUFFUS" updates throughout the week end! :-)
*

Thanks for popping in to visit!

Thank you!

Thank you so much for making my "De-Stashing Sale" a huge success. I'm working on de-cluttering my sewing room - it's gotten overwhelming and quite frankly ICKY!

The STUFFUS must either be sold or given away - it's just got to go! :-)

I'll have more STASH for sale on Tuesday, June 1 in "De-Stashing Part Deux". I hope to see you then; until then if you need me I'll be in my sewing room knee deep in clutter. Ugh!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day week end - relax and enjoy but remember those who served our country.

I appreciate your visit - come again soon! See you Tuesday, June 1.

Miss Rosie Cover Girls
*
A couple of months ago Carrie of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co fame contacted Carol (aka Brown Quilt 4 Me) and I to ask if we'd be interested in making two versions of one quilt pattern. Yes, yes and yes! ;-)

I used a fat quarter bundle of Garden Flowers by Blackbird Designs for Moda and Carol used Simple Abundance Honey Buns by Bonnie & Camille for Moda.

Carol has been referring to us as Miss Rosie Cover Girls - LOL - thank goodness we were not required to wear bikinis. LOL (be afraid, be very afraid)

Here's a picture of my version and Carol will post hers on her blog soon. (she's visiting her cute grand children for a few days)

I love this quilt - it has a very vintage feel; like something found in an attic trunk. Huge sigh!!
Carrie, thank you so much for inviting me to do another quilt for you and it's fun to be a Miss Rosie Cover Girl with my good friend, Carol. :-)

I appreciate your visit - please stop again soon.

Springing Into Summer
in the Desert

This beautiful flower is one of numerous blooms on the cactus next door! We're looking forward to more blooms - it's loaded with buds! They can be enjoyed late at night or early morning because as the sun rises they close up.

I wish I had lots of quilting and stitching to share but alas it's been a very lazy week. Sigh!

On a super happy note - there's a new Little Blue in the house - woohoo! My sweet hubby went out last Monday to 'run an errand' and came home with a new friend for me. It's no wonder I LOVE that man - he does spoil me (rotten). teehee!

edit - Little Blue II is a replacement for my Little Blue netbook computer that simply bit the dust last Sunday morning.

I'll be back soon with quilting and stitching to share!

I appreciate your visit - come again soon!

Week end in Review!

Friday brought some wonderful surprises! :-)

For Mother's Day flowers from my daughter, Kris and a Sony Reader from sweet hubby, Ron. Woohoo!!!

Saturday I finished the Big Schnibble X-Rated flimsy. The scrappy piano key border makes the quilt top pop and sing (don't you think?).
Sunday - Time with sweet Little Blue - my Netbook. I was sitting on the couch with my cup of coffee flavored with Vanilla Caramel creamer - YUM - going through all the blogs on my blog roll leaving Happy Mother's Day messages. And, then it happened - Little Blue died :-( OH NO!!!!!! My hubby tried to revive Little Blue but sadly it was gone to Netbook Heaven.

Then hubby tried to get me set up with his HUGE lap top (I was really missing Little Blue) but things were not right - I kept losing my internet connection. Maybe it was a sign that I spend way too much time on the computer. No, that can't be it! LOL

I hope you'll accept my apology if I didn't get by your blog to wish you a Happy Mother's Day - you were in my thoughts!

On a happier note - I wasn't able to sit on the couch with Little Blue or the BIG Lap Top so instead I did some stitching. :-) I'll share later.

Happy Monday - have a fabulous day. Thanks for stopping by!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

This adorable girl reminds me of my daughter, Kris when she was a little girl. She's now a grown woman and a wonderful Mom to my grandsons, Seth & Eli.

Happy Mother's Day, Kris, I love you and am very proud of the you. Seth & Eli are very blessed to have you as their Mom.

And, to my bloggy friends, I wish you a very Happy Mother's Day. I hope your family spoils you the way you deserve to be spoiled.

Frolicking
(teehee)

Webster's definition - to amuse oneself; make merry

You might recall that yesterday was all about me! So, I spent the entire day frolicking in my sewing room - woohoo! My Frolic Layer Cake was precut and I was ready to have an "X-Rated" type of day.

:-)

At the end of the day I had the guts of Schnibbles Times Two "X-Rated" assembled - big WOOHOO!!! A trim and a scrappy border will complete this cutie!

edit: It's a BIG Schnibble

I had the most wonderful day - set my TV on Direct TV channel 802 (Malt Shop Oldies) and sang along. It was truly blissful and the type of day I highly recommend - do it today not Someday! If your family can't cook for themselves then order a pizza or hand them a can opener. LOL

The day was made even more special when two Mother's Day surprises arrived - I'll share later.

Thanks for encouraging my ME day - now let me encourage you to have a ME day, as well.

I appreciate your visit - come again real soon.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

It's been a very busy week - my work schedule was beyond full - here it is already Friday! There's been very little time for ME or for YOU. LOL I've had very little time to visit your blog or respond to comments and such. Ugh! Momma said there'd be days like this. LOL

So, I've made a decision.....today it's all about ME. There will be lots of sounds coming out of my sewing room cuz I'm going to spend the entire day sewing! Yes, I am!!!

Soon, it'll be all about YOU - I'll visit your blogs and try to catch up with your doings - bear with me, please!

Time's a wasting - I'm off to sew - have a fabulous day (I plan to - teehee). I appreciate your visit - thank you so much!

EDIT - Mr Daze & Cooper if you're reading this - fend for yourselves - no cooking today! :-)

Oh, I Need a Lady-In-Waiting!

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed today - sigh!

The laundry is piled high!

The bathrooms need to be cleaned (icky job).

The floors need more than to just be swept with a glance!

The protective coating (dust) on the furniture needs to be removed.

The clutter needs to be cleared out.

All I want to do is sew but when I think about sewing I start to feel guilty because there are others things that need my time and attention. Sigh! So here I sit doing absolutely nothing! Ack!!!!! It's a vicicous circle.

What to do? What to do?

Needed to vent! Thank you! :-)

Stuffus

The Charming Guys & Girls Club is changing things up a bit for May and June - stay tuned to possible swaps and sale. I'm setting some sewing goals for the month anyway - scroll down to see three of this month's goals.
I spent Friday evening and this afternoon cutting three projects that I hope to complete this month.

One with a Frolic Layer Cake, one with an older Mary Engelbreit Layer Cake and one with American Primer leftovers. :-) One of these projects is for the Year of Schnibble - we get to pick our own project (either a Little Schibble or a Big Schibble) for the month of May.

I have two more projects to cut so I'll show you those in a few days.

When you pop in to visit with me - it makes me smile - thank you!
