Serious Fun!

Two afternoons in my sewing room + four mini quilts = serious fun! :-)

"Sarah", "Viola", "Abby" & "Lucinda" are four of six patterns found in A Collection of Antique Two Color Doll Quilts by Temecula Quilt Co. I plan to make the other two, "Virginia" & "Emma", as well.

I've seen mini quilts popping up all over blogland for many months and everyone truly seems to enjoy making them. I know I'm really enjoying them.

Take a few minutes to visit Wendy at Snippets of a Quilter - she posted one today that's absolutely adorable. Wait, scroll down to see the sweet red and white snowball mini she posted a few days ago. She's seriously addicted, too. LOL

Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for popping in.

Blocks of the Month

Sigh!

I am a total sucker for block of the month projects - especially the mystery one offered annually by The Fat Quarter Shop. 12 mystery blocks and setting designed by many of my favorite designers, beautiful fabric (this year it's Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree Quilts - huge swoon), packaged beautifully with lots of extra fabric and sent every month right on schedule. Seriously how can anyone resist it????? I really should - why - well I go gangbusters at the beginning and then 'poof' the love affair is over. Sigh!

I did spend yesterday afternoon making the first three blocks - yes I was already behind. Ugh!!!!

Do you see what I see? Look closer - there through the throat of my sewing machine - see them - the pretty packages of the 2010 FQS mystery quilt. The love affair ended months ago and I'm seriously behind.

BIG SIGH!!!!

Why does this happen?

Does this happen to you?

Help!

I hope you're having a wonderful day? I probably should spend my day working on those blocks - really I should. Shouldn't I? Will you cheer me on, please?????

Two Charm Packs Later

Another successful day in my sewing room. I finished a third smaller quilt for Shaye with the Bliss charm packs. :-)

This one definitely needs borders so it'll be a few days before it's totally finished. I need to place a tiny fabric order.

In the meantime I need to quilt and bind the other two flimsies and make the curtains for her room.

Thank you so much for all your sweet comments and compliments.

TA-DA!!!!!

I'll bet you're blissfully excited that I didn't use blissful in my title. LOL I'm sure it's gotten a bit tiresome. :-)

Another fun day in my sewing room + 30 blocks = official flimsy. woohoo!!! A second floor quilt for Little Miss Shaye. :-)

This pattern is by The Pattern Basket and called Jelly Squares. It's very simple and graphic but a perfect pattern to show off the prints. It does call for an outer border but my daughter and I have decided that we'll leave the border off and I'll add a scrappy binding. This will keep the focus on the blocks.

I have a plan for a crib quilt using the charm packs and hope to work on that today. I'm just about 'blissed' out. LOL

I hope the week end finds you enjoying time with your needle and thread.

Thanks for stopping by - come again soon.

Blissfully Tired

:-)

It didn't take me long to figure out what I wanted to make with the Bliss 2.5" strips. I pulled out my bolt of Moda Bella and started cutting. At the end of the day....30 blocks. :-)

I've used every regular spool in my thread arsenal so it's time to pull out the 'big gun'....the cone of Aurifil thread. The empty bobbins look very sad but tomorrow they will be filled and my machine will be 'locked and loaded'. LOL

Some have asked how I've been able to spend so much time sewing - well, the laundry is piled high, the floors are dirty, the furniture is dusty, the bathrooms need attention and I'm unemployed.

What's a girl to do? SEW! SEW! SEW!

Enjoy your day!

Bliss(ful) Juice Boxes & Jelly Rolls

YUM :-)

I pressed a fat quarter bundle/tower of Bliss yesterday and cut out two quilts . Yippee!!!

The first required 63 - 8" squares - Juice Boxes by Allison at Cluck, Cluck Sew .

A new floor quilt for Little Miss Shaye - woohoo!!!

She really enjoys sitting on a floor quilt surrounded by toys; this of course when she's not rolling all over the floor. LOL

I also cut out 3 - 2.5" strips from each fat quarter which equals 1.5 jelly rolls. I have a second floor quilt planned. :-)

I've been having a Bliss(ful) time in my sewing room - I hope your day is Bliss(ful), as well.

I appreciate your visit - come again soon!

Stinkin' Cute!

:-)

First I want to send out a huge HUG to each and everyone of you who took time to leave me a hug earlier this week. You truly made my heart smile - thank you bunches and bunches!!!! I've been working on responding to your comments please bear with me.

After a brief hiatus from my sewing machine and my sewing room I'm back in the groove and having fun. :-)

I have finally finished (well to a flimsy stage) my Annie stitchery project. I had a ton of fun working on this project and now look forward to quilting it. I want to quilt it in a crosshatch pattern but I'm a little fearful of my ability. We'll see! The patterns are designed by Barbie Jo Paquin of Cleo and Me Patterns, Inc. Barbie Jo is not only talented but a sweetie, too. And, she has a sister named Darlene - woohoo!!! LOL

Speaking of stinkin' cute - sweet Shaye is waiting for a quilt (yes curtains for her room, too - LOL) from her Nana Darlene and Nana Darlene needs your help. I have plans for a larger quilt using Bliss fat quarters but I want to make a crib size quilt using these charm packs - any thoughts or ideas?????

I hope your day is Bliss(ful). Thank you for your friendship.

The Envelope Please!

I've been working lots of hours this week so there hasn't been much time at the machine - sigh! Just when I get in the mood to sew, too. Ugh! :-)

Anyway, I did manage to sort through the "bin o'kits" for small quilts and picked one. :-) woohoo! The envelope wasn't postmarked but the receipt inside was dated Nov '09; I think it's been properly aged. LOL

Ta-Dah!!!

I need to find time to quilt these little ones or my stack of small quilt flimsies will be as big as my stack of large quilt flimsies :-)

I hope you won't be too bored with my blog because I think it's going to be all about small quilts for awhile - I'm having way too much fun. teehee!!!

I hope you're having a fabulous week! I'm working later today but then I'm off tomorrow - woohoo!!!!!

I always appreciate your visits - thank you!

A Little Sewing!

I'm going to blame Kathie from Inspired by Antique Quilts and Vicky from LA Quilter - LOL! They have been making some adorable and fabulous small quilts and have been encouraging me to join them. They have been having so much fun and I decided I wanted to have fun too. :-)

Three small quilts using monthly kits I've received from The Temecula Quilt Co.
Yummy!!!

I've been receiving monthly kits for small quilts from The Temecula Quilt Co for longer than I can remember. When they arrive I admire them and then toss them in my 'to be done someday bin'. I'm going to sort through the bin and get busy - I have some ideas to decorate my home with these little quilts. :-)

Thank you for popping by to visit with me - come again soon.

He said,

"Dig a Hole"

LOL

That's what my hubby, Ron said when I told him that I was in the mood to sew today but my sewing room was still a disaster area. Actually he said, "so what; dig a hole and enjoy". LOL So, I followed his advice - managed to dig a hole and got busy!

Start time 9:00 AM - finish time 8:00 PM (a full day of sewing)

Last week I showed you my Strawberry Fields Jelly Roll cut and ready to sew. At the end of the day I had a small pile of 2 1/2" squares, three empty bobbins, an empty spool of thread, a partial flimsy (just need to sew the rows together) and a huge smile on my face. :-)

This pattern is called "Shortcake" by Cluck, Cluck, Sew - I think I'm the last person in blogland to discover her sweet patterns. You can order Allison's patterns from her in PDF and have them in your mailbox before you know it. Awesome customer service!

I hope your day was as blissful as mine - I really needed it. :-) Thank you for popping by to visit.

A Rough Week!

(life in perspective)

Seriously - it's been a very rough week. I'm not here to ask for your pity but I do have something to say.

My hubby, Ron (aka Mr Daze) continues to struggle with health challenges due to problems with his big heart. He's scheduled for a procedure next Wednesday and we hope that will help.

My mom had major surgery last Monday and spent five days in ICU. I faced the decision - where should I be - with my mom in Texas or with my husband here in Arizona. I chose to stay here in AZ but naturally suffered some guilt. My mom's surgery went well - three aneurysms were discovered and removed. Whew! Now the healing begins.

Earlier this week the blogging community received news that our dear friend, Kaaren of The Painted Quilt has been dealt a very serious health challenge. She's one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and it's a privilege to call her my friend. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers, please!

During all this turmoil and stress it was maliciously implied that I had done some wrongdoings! I'm not here to defend myself because my friends and I know the truth. Enough said!

I'd like to ask that we put life in perspective and think about who's been wronged......my husband who's very active lifestyle has been curbed, my mom who went into a serious surgery incredibly frightened and Kaaren who is facing a battle with her health. Think about it, my friends.

False accusations and bullying needs to stop immediately - life is just too short!

Thank you for indulging me!

Cutting Up!

:-)

About two weeks ago I told you I'd found the 'magic beans' - you know THE beans I needed to help my sputtering MOJO. I had a minor set back but yesterday I decided it was time to start cutting up. Yep, I pulled out two Jelly Rolls and an older Layer Cake and got busy! I'd hoped to cut a few more but time got away from me.

Now what, you ask? I do have some plans. teehee!!! My sewing room is a total disaster area so when I get home from work today I'm going do some much needed tidying up. If it's tidy I'm more apt to get in there and sew a bit on a more regular basis. Wouldn't you agree? Time will tell - LOL.

Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree (Moda)- YUM

Oh my I can't remember what this is called but it was a yummy Layer Cake!

Dagnabbit I forgot to post the picture of Oasis Jelly Roll by 3 Sisters!

Next time.

Have a wonderful day.

Memories

Take a walk down memory lane with me, please!

I can hardly believe that I'm about to celebrate my 5th blogiversary - five years - wowzer!!!! It all started in June 2006 and here we are five years later - it's been a wild ride. LOL

I've been thinking about a fun way to celebrate this milestone - five years is BIG! :-) So, while I've been plotting and thinking I thought about the ways I've celebrated in the past.

2007 - 1st Blogiversary

I had you guess how many quilts were in my red quilt cabinet.

2008 - 2nd Blogiversary

I had you guess how many yo-yos were in the jar. The large wabbit is Joy and Thimbles is in the jar with the yo-yos. LOL

2009 - 3rd Blogiversary

I had you guess the contents of this "Lunchbox Sewing Kit".

2010 - 4th Blogiversary

We celebrated for four days with lots of mayhem, madness & foolishness. LOL
Way too many things to mention. :-)

Stay tuned because in a day or two I'll be throwing a party to celebrate FIVE

BIG YEARS of blogging. I hope you'll come back to party with me.

The "Magic Beans"
*
I've been searching for the "Magic Beans" - you know, the ones that would work their 'magic' on my lack of interest in sewing/quilting. I haven't been searching hard because I figured they would eventually show up. LOL
*
Well, guess what? They're here - woohoo - this may just be the Magic Beans I've been seeking. It the Simple Things Quilt Along featuring two versions of a delightful pattern. My good friends Carol and Kelly have put their talents together to bring us this fabulous project.

Fabric requirements have been posted on their respective blogs and next week they will post the cutting instructions. The idea of this quilt along is to enjoy the journey - keep it simple - no pressure - just fun! My attention span is not very good these days I hope I don't lose interest before I even select fabric. LOL

I hope you plan to join us!

Thanks for popping in to visit - come back soon I'm having a party - can you guess what we'll be celebrating?
