Sewing Time

*

First let me wish you a Happy Spring - it's MY favorite season! :-)

*
Managed to get some sewing time in - woohoo!!!! This is my 'tweaked' version of Summer Dreamin' from The Moda Bakeshop. A bloggy friend and I decided it would be sweet with sashing strips and corner stones between the blocks; I'm quite smitten with the results. teehee! I cut the sashing strips at 1.5", corner stones are 1.5" x 1.5" and first border is also cut 1.5". I'm not sure what I will do for the outer border (scrappy or one print) - still thinking. :-) I also stopped with 16 blocks - 4 x 4 (blocks finish at 16") - big enough for me. Lest you think I haven't been keeping up with you - I have definitely been peeking over your shoulders and keeping up with happenings in your corner of the world. I'm finding the balance with work and play. LOL * Enjoy your day - I'm hoping to prep some handwork today. * In Friendship!

I'm loving the tiny sashing and cornerstones. I will have to remember that for some of my larger blocks. Thanks for posting.

Very nice Summer Dreamin! I'm glad your work life balance is working out, I hope I'll find that nice groove too.......all too soon.

I love your bitty cornerstones and sashing. Doesn't it make it easier to put together than trying to match and press all those points? Such a cute quilt. I want to see the whole thing when you finish the borders!!

Very pretty! These must be big blocks--the quilt looks plenty large enough for cuddling.

I thought I felt someone behind me but every time I looked around, there was no one there! *wink*

I like your version of Summer Dreamin' better than the original. So fresh looking and spring-like.

I'm glad to hear that you are finding the balance between work and play. Seems like you're fitting both in very nicely.

Glad you are making the most of your limited sewing time. Wish I could say the same for me! Always thought that I was more productive the busier I was. It forced me to budget my time. Not so much on this forced retirement......

I'm so happy you got some sewing time - I love the colors and the tiny cornerstones. I may become a copycat of that idea in a quilt soon.

Love it!! Sashing was a great addition. Fabric says summer to me! Love it! As with everything now...I'm wondering how it will be quilted?? :-)

I'm so glad to see that you are back and "humming" along in your sewing room! The inner sashing to the blocks are perfect. Just the right amount of accent. I'm glad that you are adjusting to your new worklife/homelife schedule.

I agree, your small sashing really adds to the quilt.

The very small sashing and blocks is surprisingly effective. I may have to try something similar. Thanks for finding the time to share. Your balance will probably improve with time. In the meantime, we will be patient and enjoy when you can share.

Becky said...

I saw this pattern on MBS and it didn't do much for me, BUT your addition of the sashing and cornerstones had me printing out the pattern. Glad that you are finding some balance in work and play. Glad that you are looking over our shoulders. We want and need you in our community!
