I just love those fabrics. To win would be divine. We do 12 days of Christmas with little surprises until the big day.

We have a wall hanging with one piece of candy tied to each of 25 buttons. Every day in December my daughter unties the string to release the candy and to celebrate that Christmas is one day closer!!!

Hi Darlene!!! Love what you have been spending your hours creating--those minis are adorable.

Years ago I had my father-in-law make me an advent box that I saw in a magazine--a mantel-length box with 24 slots. He doubled the box size to make it easier to make so each slot is about 2". I glued felt pieces that flipped up and buttoned to brass upholstery tacks on top and spell out Merry Christmas To You as each numbered box is opened (I stenciled the numbers on one side of the felt). Each slot has a small decorative item such as a stuffed mouse, mini tree, glass ball, tiny Santa, etc. I look forward to pulling it out every year after Thanksgiving.

We just sigh a huge sigh of relief each night as the time gets closer, and we get one more check mark on our To Do list. Shopping...Wrapping...Shipping. Baking..Sewing..Parties..and listening to Christmas music all the while!

I love these fabrics! Sweetwater is one of my top 3 designers, they always make their fabrics both fun and beautiful!

Oh, My! I just can't miss this wonderful chance! THANKS for letting us participating, Darlene ;>)

We have a fabric Advent Calendar (of course!), starting from December 1st, with 25 pockets. Each one contains a sweet or a tiny surprise (no kid or grandkid is allowed to look inside!). Then each of them, in turn, opens a pocket each day, and discovers his/her "treasure"... the 2 last ones are left empty, so that the kids can fill the pockets with a small surprise for DH and one for me (and we're not allowed to look inside, of course!). We're having so much fun at this ;>)
On the other hand, I'm spending much time with my daughters + in laws, baking for Xmas... while the boys and their daddy are looking for the best Xmas tree and some new decorations to install outside of the house.
I just love the magic of that time of the year!

I would love to win those gorgeous fabrics.....we count down the days with small gifts leading up to the big day! It is always fun and you never know what each day holds for you......my kids are older and they still love to do this.....

Carin@Ullhärvan said...

My three kids each have an embroided Advent calender for 24 gifts. Christmas eve is the day we celebrate the most here in Sweden. But I do start a little when it's my birthday, because then it's exactly 4 months til christmas.

marie said...

Since all the kids are grown and live far away the days are counted down in my mind as I know they will all be calling on Christmas day. Thanks for the chance to win.

Ruth said...

I love that fabric too and just purchased 2 yards of it to make table runners! I sure would love to get the FQs! We used to have advent calendars every year from my Mom that my kids opened each day. Now we send them to our grandchildren.

My kids love to make those wall hangings that I made as a kid, with construction paper rings interlocked, and they get to cut one off every day until Christmas☺

What beautiful fabric! The build-up to Christmas is filled with decorating, baking, exchanges of phone calls among my sister, me, my sisters-in-law, my nieces to nail down who is doing what ... pulling boxes out of the garage to decorate the inside and outside of the house, and of course working on last minute quilting projects!

Ariane said...

Oh my! I saw the picture of this bundle under your name in my blog list and thought, that lucky girl got a bundle of some of my favorite fabric. So, then I came over to visit and find out that you are amazing and are having a giveaway for this bundle. I'm like.....yeah....this could be my chance.

My kids always start giving me hints about what they want for Christmas around the beginning of September. I try to start sewing early to make gifts, but I usually don't get done til the last minute. Literally!!!! So, our countdown usually starts in September. LOL!!!

Thanks for the chance to win.

Hugs

Ariane

Winning that bundle would be like Christmas in August! My favorite way to countdown Christmas is with a little song sung whenever I call my mother or sister or now my kids.
"Seventeen days till Christmas, seventeen days till Christmas, seventeen days till Christmas and Santa will be here." It's always a bit of fun to be the first to do it, or to catch the other off guard. We generally start anytime after Thanksgiving. "Twenty-eight days till Christmas..." Thanks for the chance to win!

Ann Marie @ 16 Muddy Feet said...

I don't count down, it comes around so quickly, it is just here. The kids are in college now, so there is no reason to count down at all.

Sandie @ crazy'boutquilts said...

I'm a list maker. I've already done some shopping, in October I do some sewing (at a retreat), and then I just follow the lists! LOL When the kids were small, I would put little gifties in a stocking hung from their bedroom door knobs, and then their big stocking on Christmas~ it usually gave us a few more minutes of sleep. LOL Have a happy weekend!

Strlady said...

Hi Darlene!
Great line of fabrics and just in time to decide what to make for Xmas.

We actually pull out Christmas movies on Thanks giving and as we get closer to Xmas we watch the movies. Slowly until Xmas day. On Xmas we watch Family Man (updated version of It's a Wonderful life) and The Holiday!
Hope you and Mr Daze are doing well.

Michelle said...

I have a wall hanging with the 24 days of christmas on it...the tree moves from each spot and when it is Christmas, the tree hangs on the top of the hanging. I got it for my son when he was little and he is almost 16 and still loves it!

When my daughter was a child we had a new Advent Calendar each year, always with little gifts inside and she would open a new day each day in December. Now my granddaughter upholds the tradition and since we don't all live together she calls us each day to tell us what her little gift was.

Kathy said...

Thank you for having this giveaway!

We have a cross-stitch advent calendar that I made at least 20 years ago. Each pocket has a little hand-painted ornament that hangs on the cross-stitch wreath part of the calendar. The boys used to have to take turns - one would get odd days and the other even days. Now I have to do it all LOL.

carol fun said...

Pretty fabrics! We still use an advent calendar I made for my boys when they were young - they are in their 20's but still insist on it! LOL!

Kim said...

We have a 24 day calendar. We put treats in each pocket and our kids get one each day. It's makes things fun for them especially the little one who can't wait for Christmas to come. He's already made his Christmas list last week :-D

Hi Darlene! Those "Blissful" quilts for Miss Shaye are just gorgeous. What a lucky little love.
Your miniatures are beautiful too! And so quickly done. Wow!
Please I should dearly love to win those fabrics as I love Sweetwater designs. When our sons were small we always had an Advent Calendar but now that they are grown and left home,I am usually in a mad rush to finish everything up with me doing binding on Christmas Eve.
Thank you for a chance. Luba x

We really don't have any special way to count down the days now that there's just the two of us at home.

I guess we keep an eye on the calendar and remind each other that there's only _____ days to go til the big day.

Unknown said...

We pack and wrap and plan, all to get ready to head down to Niagara where all the family are. Can't wait to see everyone together again! Love the new Sweetwater line!

I made an advent calendar quilt a few years ago that we use to countdown to Christmas.

thanx for the chance!

When I was little, we had a felt banner that you would untie a red and white mint each day until you reached the bell at the end on Dec. 25.
Thanks for the fun giveaway!

Amy said...

I wish I could say we have a great tradition to count down the days, but we really don't. My DH & I do tease each other though - it's "x number of days until you can open your gifts", etc. but that's about it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas and esp. decorating for Christmas. LOVE this fabric too - thank you for the chance to win it. :-) Have a great weekend & Monday! :-)

Deb said...

We really don't have a traditional way to countdown to Christmas. I'm always in such a rush to finish shopping and baking that it's here before I know it. This year will hopefully be a little different since our granddaughter will be 17 months old. Thanks for the chance.

We don't do anything out of the ordinary. It is just me and my husband now but I do count the days until Christmas when my kids come in for Christmas. Beautiful fabric. Thanks for the chance.

Cathy said...

My husband is a teacher and daughter still in high school so we count down the days until school is out for Christmas break, then we get really busy.

Anonymous said...

OMG! I would love this bundle!!! First I count down the days to my December birthday....that leaves three days left that I count down to Christmas. :-)

Becky said...

I keep planning on making an Advent calendar with pockets. I've made a small one with buttons and stars to move from the border to a Christmas tree, but I gave it away. Since it's just the two of us, it's more like - how many more days do I have to finish these quilts?

Carolyn said...

I love these fabrics, Chritmas is my favorite. What do I do until the big day. Shop, bake, get together with friends I am in a Christmas swap with a new quilter
friend. I would love to share these with her.

It goes by so quickly now who can count? But we pack as much fun and time with friends and family as we can. Each day is special!

Wow beautiful fabrics! Counting down to Christmas sure seems to be starting when Fall hits. We start by warming up the house with fall decor, and then early in December the Christmas music starts playing :-) I am hopeless when it comes to making Christmas gifts. Christmas always seems to steamroll in before I can finish what I have buzzing in my head ;-D

Carol said...

Christmas always arrives before I'm completely ready and my excuse is that we have family birthdays in December and late November that cause the planning to go awry. Oh well, maybe Countdown to Christmas will help.

I love Sweetwater's fabrics. I do have some charm packs of "Countdown to Christmas", but haven't decided what to do with them. When my son was little we had an Advent Calendar. Now, I just put a slash through the day!

Deanna said...

Great giveaway! My family has an advent nativity created by a dear friend and taking the little sheep, camels, shepherds and angels from their little pockets and arranging them in and around the stable is a daily December ritual. We just love it!

I don't really have a way to count down - time is going by so fast now anyway! Would love to win anyway. Thanks so much!

We do tons of decorating, wrapping and baking while listening to my huge collection of christmas music. We drive around the neighborhoods each night looking at all the light displays. We make hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls and snuggle under christmas quilts. Its my favorite holiday! Thanks for the chance to win that awesome fabric.

ytsmom said...

I count down by baking. Early on I will make cookies, which usually get eaten well before Christmas. Then it is special cakes, breads and quick breas. I like to use some of these as gifts. And of course, more cookies right before Christmas, to put on cookie trays! I probably bake as much in December as I do all the rest of the year! YUMMY

Christmas in Australia coincides with the end of the school year and the start of summer holidays. As a teacher I count the days until the end of term and then it's usually only a few more until Christmas. T hanks for the chance to win .. a great prize.

Patty said...

Love those fabrics. Thanks for a chance to win. I countdown by first writing down all the gifts I want to make and then crossing them off as it gets (too) close before I'm done!

Love these fabrics and a chance to win! My dear friend Dottie (and so many miles away) sends out grand Emails counting the days. As hectic as the holidays become, you can rely on her!

Thank you for the chance! Lovely blog!

As a young stay-at-home mother, I made an Advent calendar with 24 little characters made from pom-poms and glued on felt, antennas, etc -- a caterpillar, soldier, angel, mouse reindeer, butterfly, teddy bear, Santa, etc. The little characters were tucked into pockets on a felt calendar, always the angel in #1, reindeer in #23, and Santa in #24. Our kids took turns pulling out one character daily and pinning it to the felt tree.
I'm looking forward to sharing the calendar with our 3-year-old granddaughter this year.
Thanks for sharing this giveaway, Darlene.

Stitched With Prayer said...

Oh my gosh Darlene...this year our count down to Christmas is easy. It started on May 24 when my grandson (one of the two that we raised) left for AF Basic and is now in Tech School. That should last until about the first week in December, then he should be able to stop home and see us for a few days before he heads on to his permanent duty station. I miss him so bad that I have be calling it my countdown to Christmas and my countdown to Jake. He probably won't be here for the actual Christmas holiday but we will have a special Christmas for him while he is here. What are we doing? Right now, just crossing days off the calendar, LOL. Hope that qualifies me for a chance at the Christmas quilty treasure. I'm in serious need of Christmas fabric. Hugs my Wonder Quilter...

Karen said...

I have a tree with ornaments made from felt that I made when my children were little (they're 32 and 35 now!). But I still get it out every year and put the ornaments on each day - and it's just me and the hubs!! Love the bundle!!

Chris@Cats On My Quilts said...

In our household for years and years my husbands aunt would send my kids one of those paper advent calendars. Now I give them to my grandsons and get one ofr me too. I love them!

Linda said...

The girls take turns changing writing the days on a chalk board that Santa holds. Every year I think they'll probably have outgrown wanting to do it, but they still argue over who's turn it is! Lol. :-)

Becky said...

Our oldest son received a Christmas Countdown wall-hanging when he was a young boy. We still hang it every December 1st and move the mouse to a new pocket each day. Lots of wonderful memories in our Christmas Countdown. Have fun sewing and quilting for Shaye!

I love this line!! Thank you so much for doing the giveaway! We count down to Christmas by hanging a mini ornament on the Advent hanging I made years ago.

http://mylifeinquilts.blogspot.com/2010/12/christmas-decorating.html

I've made quite a few of these as gifts. It so fun to buy the tiny ornaments.

What a great giveaway.
When my kids were little I had made a cross stitch Christmas calender. There was a bag tied to each day of the month of December. The kids took turns taking a bag off and it each was filled with a little surprise for the kids.
They had the best time each December opening the bags.

When our kids were little we did an Advent calendar. Now they are college age, no more. I've already started Christmas gathering of a pattern or two to make for gifts.

Have a great weekend.

A few years ago I made a advent calendar wall quilt. So each day for 25 days, the boys get a little treat. It could be a chocolate frog or wrapped hard boiled lollies (candy). I love the Countdown to Christmas fabrics. Thanks for the chance.

Lovely fabric give away. Thanks, I enjoy reading your blog.
We set up Christmas at the start of December and count the number of sleeps to. When our children were little we would make a decoration each day to add to the tree.

darlene,
At school, I have an advent piece where we add ornaments to a tree. At home, I mark off the days to Christmas break because I find the longest stretch of the school year is the first half. The second half just seems to fly by. This year we might be marking the days more so if it works out that our son comes home for Christmas.
Regards,
Anna

We have advent calendars that we use. There is also a chapter Advent story that we read each day leading up to Christmas. It's also fun to do a lot of baking to help count down the days. Making gifts for teachers and family members is also included.

Oh I love this line. What a delight it would be to win!

Last year we started a countdown to Christmas on December 1st. We gave the kids a clue in the morning for the activity that we would be doing that night. It varied from living Nativities to making cookies. They had a blast trying to figure out the clues. It was so much fun. I can't wait to do it again this year.

Linda in PA said...

Love the fabrics! Thanks for the giveaway. We don't really count down the days to Christmas since our kids are now adults with children of their own. I'm usually super busy shopping, baking, trying to finish handmade gifts, and wrapping packages.

Allie said...

What a super give-away, Darlene! I've been counting down since last January, with my one Christmas gift a month club, lol...so that I'm not sitting chained to the sewing machine, counting the hours til I must be finished!!!

Penny said...

When our children were younger, at the beginning of advent we would set up the crib empty and each day they would do kind deeds and offer up sacrifices and then at night they got to put their tally of straw pieces into the crib for Jesus' bed. We also had Mary and Joseph at a distance and each night they would move a little closer to the crib and finally make it there on Christmas Eve awaiting the birth of Jesus. Our children loved doing this for Jesus as He shared His birthday with them. Now our daughter is doing the same with her children so we started a family tradition without realising. Thank you for a chance to win and thank you Kimberley!

Michelle said...

We mark a candle with 24 incriments and light it each morning at breakfast, we also have a Christmas nativity scene that is added to a piece a day until it is complete on Christmas eve!

Cory said...

We don't count down to Christmas anymore as the youngest is a teenager. We used to hang small candy canes on the tree. Hi Darlene,

When my kids were younger I'd get the Lego Advent Calendar and they'd have such fun opening the little boxes and building an itty bitty little Lego item. We keep those separately in the Christmas decoration box and bring them out every year.

I love Christmas!!! My son loves Candy Canes and they come in so many flavors now. I buy as many different flavours as I can and put 24 of them in a Christmas glass that sits on the cupboard and we count down to Christmas by watching the glass get emptier day by day until the last one on Dec 24th.

I've been drooling over that line! What a generous giveaway - thank you! I can only imagine the fun things I could make! We're on the verge of an empty nest so I'm going to have to come up with a few new traditions to count down to Christmas, but for the past 20 years, I would wrap the Christmas picture books and set them in a wooden chest in the living room. Each child would choose a book and we would read it curled up under a quilt for each of the 12 days before Christmas.

ooh, am I in time to enter?

I made quilted advent calendars for each grandchild after he was born, and we put a little bar of chocolate in each pocket and hang them in our living room (the DGS who lives 200 miles away has his sweets sent and his parents hang the calendar) then the boys come in each day to "open" a window.
Oh and on Christmas Eve we have a family takeaway meal for as many as can make it, which is usually busy, crowded and noisy!

What a fun giveaway! In our family we count down to Christmas in a Panic!!!

Darlene B said...

We just keep chipping away at all the details that need to be taken care of to make Christmas celebrations "happen." This is the first year that we have a smaller tree - and it's PRE-LIT!! After putting the lights on our big tree last year, I put my foot down and said, "I'm not doing this again!" So, I should save some time on tree decorating this year. Also, my 50th birthday is Dec 21, so I'll be counting down the days for a totally different reason!!
