Distractions!

;-)

Are you waiting for me to post more 'stuffus' for my Stash Plus sale? There's lots more starring on this blog on Friday morning.

There are a few things on the post below this one.

Yesterday I decided it was time to do some serious cleaning in my sewing room! Ugh! It's been a serious task but now my sweet hubby won't have to tell me to 'just dig a hole' when I feel like sewing. LOL

In the cleaning process I kept encountering distractions - lots of distractions - serious distractions - inspiring distractions (some not so inspiring - LOL). I sorted through piles of "stuffus" - the free patterns I downloaded and printed; the patterns I purchased as PDFs; embroidery patterns; etc.

A distraction - these wonderful prints laid out on a cleared surface waiting to meet a needle and thread :-)

I do lots of handwork while watching baseball (GO! Diamondbacks). I had fun stitching this redwork project for a friend. The design was preprinted on linen fabric and included a couple of skeins of Lecien Cosmo floss. It was my first experience with Cosmo - wow

it's like but-tah!!!

This yummy design is by talented designer Rosalie Quinlan.

For a change of pace I've also been doing some counted x-stitch. Two delightful sampler designs by Little House Needleworks stitched with overdyed floss (Week's Dye Works and Crescent Colors).

Tomorrow you'll find me continuing the stash sort, taking pictures and prepping a Stash Plus sale for Friday morning.

Thanks so much for visiting!

In Friendship!

I really love the embroidered wreath! I wish I was better at that, but I know that practice makes perfect. It is the one craft that my deceased mother did teach me to do, so I feel sometimes that I need to pick it up in her honor. You have inspired me!

Go! Phillies!

I've found myself doing a little more cross-stitch myself lately. It's a wonderful distraction that is just enough to miss my sewing!

I can see how you can get distracted. I started crafting by doing X-stitch. I remember I made a little sampler I framed and carried with me for the first 3 houses I owned. It was not well made but I was so proud of that darn thing!
I just started doing embroidery this year and with just one piece I've learned tons. That wreath is definitely gorgeous, so I think I'll need to look up that designer. Thanks!

I love your wreath and counted cross-stitch projects! You're multi-talented! How in the world do you get so much done?

Distractions while cleaning happens to me too! If I ever get a sewing room again, I'm sure it will take days to organize all the stuffus that is now in four different rooms of the house...

Love the embroideries! Cross-stitch was my first needle love.

Darlene, need me to come over and help you clean??? *insert mischievous laugh here* I'd be happy to help you thin out some stitchery patterns you don't want anymore, maybe even a quilt or two...or three, wrapped around a few bundles of fabric??? I'll even bring the motorcycle trailer to help haul away things that you find are in your way! It's a closed trailer so everything would be safe...until it got to my house, LOL. (JK of course) Hugs dear friend and be sure to take the occasional stitching break during all the sorting and cleaning.

That wreath is so pretty! Love the cross stitch pieces too - we seem to share a lot of the same vices/interests - LOL! Good luck with the cleaning process- I too always encounter so much distraction when I try to straighten up.

What gorgeous stitching, girl - looks like fun! Someday I'll have to try the Cosmo threads.

One of the major hazards of cleaning your sewing area is all the treasures waiting to be found.
