3" Nine Patches!?!?!?!?! And, More!

Remember my 3" nine patches? Here's one of the blocks with the cutie in the center. I finished the blocks on Friday and they sit waiting. It should be finished but I need to lay them out on the floor and I've been too lazy to do it. Yes, I need a design wall so that I don't have to crawl all over the floor! Note to self - figure out where to put a design wall.

What's a UFO???? Thanks so much for posting your opinions and definitions. This question came up because last week my DH was with me at one of our local quilt stores and the owner was telling one her employees about me and how much I sew. They asked me how many UFOs I had and I said, "none". My DH started laughing and I realized that his definition and mine were not the same. A UFO to me is a project that's been started but has been set aside. The fabric has been cut and I've started sewing. I try very hard not to do that - yes, I prefer to work on one project at a time and it makes me crazy when I hop from project to project. Now, I have a ton of PIGS (projects in grocery sacks, as Patti calls them) but I don't think of those as UFOs. Speaking of Patti - she provided "food for thought" - I have a large (read very large) pile of quilt tops and never thought of those as UFOs. Now, I have to decide whether or not those are UFOs in my mind or just quilt tops. LOL Nancy says they are just quilt tops. HMMMM - something to ponder. I'm truly a "processor" so I'm sure that I will always have a lot of quilt tops waiting to be quilted so I'm not sure I want to call them UFOs - LOL. This is definitely something to ponder! :-) Again, thank you for sharing your opinions and definitions.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR - need to vent!!!! I realized yesterday that I'm too addicted to this computer. Way to addicted. Why? Our cable company was experiencing an outage and I couldn't do anything on the computer until last night. My world was tilted on its axis - crazy I know! LOL My DH looked at me later in the evening and said "we're back up" and I felt such a sense of relief when I was able to log on. I really need a life!

Those blocks are great! Nine patches and kind of a log cabin...what could be better. Isn't it interesting how we can't get along without these darn computers. I feel like I'm missing out on something if I can't get on. What did we do before we had them?

Blogroll said you didn't have any new posts and I thought that was odd so I checked and I have missed three posts!! This still isn't totally working.

I love the squares! Especially the little centers! It's going to be a great quilt!

Let me answer the UFO question here. I would agree with you on the NO UFO's in my closets. Well wait I do have one. I don't count finished tops as UFO's. I think of UFO's as something I am not going back to finish. I onyl have one fo those, but I have lots of tops waiting to be quilted. They have to wait in their pile because I simply can't do as much quilting as I can straight sewing. I have to rest my shoulders and I wouldn't call something a UFO just because it's waiting for me to quilt it.

Nope the only thing I abandoned was my first applique project. I learned on that one and I got stuck on the border. I may still go back and finish it yet.

The blocks are great with the little ninepatches in the center! That will make a very sweet quilt. :-)

And my world gets tilted too when I'm out of touch with my blogger friends!

My computer is my best friend! How sad is that?

Hey all those tops are yours--you may call them whatever you want, Tops is fine with me, LOL.

Now think of all the new friends that you have made being online and blogging---how can that be bad?? We might be bad influences sometimes when we all rush off on another tangent to try something else and drag other willing participants along for the ride but isn't it fun?

Those are some yummy looking blocks. I'll just keep sayin how much I enjoy those littly teensy pieces. Can't wait to see the whole top.

No UFO's? Good for you. When I first began quilting I would not start a new project until the last was complete. Then I realized the merit of having something to work on at the maching and something available for hand stitching. It was a slippery slope for me. I do have some UFO's that have languished far to long. In the last week, I have come to realize they are probably never going to be completed by me and it's time for them to go live with someone who has the gumption to finish them and love them the way they should be. It was a very freeing revelation for me.
I do have some tops waiting to be quilted, but they are not among the UFO's. I know they will get done.

Darlene..as usual i love your fabric choices for these blocks. Can't wait to see what the other blocks like.
I'm like you if i can't access the computer, (DDs doing homework or using MSN) i get withdrawal symptons.

I'm with you! Our motherboard blew last spring and it took two weeks to get one that actually worked when installed. I thought I'd go nuts without the computer! I kept going over to our daughters so I could catch up on email and blogs.

Very cute block, Darlene. Girl, you NEED a design wall! About the UFOs - a quilt instructor I had said that a "finished top is a finished project" so I take that as gospel... lol

I can relate about the Internet. I'm lost without mine. Glad you are "back"

I really need a life!
You are not alone......

Nope..you have a life, it has just come to mean that a working computer is part of it..*VBS*

This blogging thing seems to be something that many of us truly need. In my case, I live alone, pets aren't generally allowed in our small complex. My kids are all married and gone, and most live a good distance from here in terms of hours of driving.
I have friends in the area, but one one is single, like me. And she still works. I found this through Bonnie's site last summer, and it has become a very important part of my day and my life. Someone is expecting to see me, and see what I am working on. To listen to my chatter and thoughts. If I bore them, they can click onward to other blogs and don't hurt my feeling because I don't even know if they've been here or not, unless they leave a comment..*S*

In my opinion it works well for everyone who needs or wants it to be part of their life. I love seeing what you are doing..*VBS* Have a great day, and don't think too much. Hugs, Finn

Those nine patch babies look so comfy tucked into the center of those strips......

As to the name for unquilted tops. I am going to call mine: Stage - 2.

your blocks are super!! just started reading your blog and your retired life sounds like something I am aiming for... simple and happy!!

on the subject of UFOs, this for me is a project started and then bagged or boxed up as i move on to the next new idea... I have probably 10 or more which I can identify. I also have many Hussys, the fabric is set aside, the pattern has been picked and it just hasn't been started...

check my blog tomorrow. our guild is doing our PARADE OF PIGS tonight. I had 12 ladies sign up to finish a pig and have 8 who got them done!!! I will post pics tomorrow.

I consider my tops UFO's but only because the yahoo group Stashbusters does. I have no problem with a group of tops waiting for quilting. It's those other projects that are started but get pushed aside so I can start something new. This year I'm focusing on finishing UFO's and I have really limited the number of new projects I allow myself to start. Before I got my longarm 4 years ago I always made one quilt from start to finish. Now I'm always working on multiple projects.

Can't wait seeing your completed top... (and thanks for your kind msg.)

I love your blocks. Are each of the "rounds" that circle the nine patch the same width?
