Borders and More
I've been stumped for the past few days with border decisions on the nine patch quilt I've been working on for my friend. Last night I went to sew with some friends at a local quilt store and it was the perfect opportunity to look for "the" border fabric(s). I love what I found and will hopefully finish it later today. My friend has no idea that this quilt is for her - she's never asked me to make a quilt for her so I'm really excited about finishing it and giving it to her. I hope that she loves it as much as I do :-)
While my quilting slump is not completely gone, this sweet quilt has helped me at least get my quilting motor revved up again. It's just sputtering for now but at least it's started. LOL I've been contemplating my next project because I'm afraid if I don't have a "plan" the slump will return. Ugh! Should I prep applique? Should I cut a new project? Should I quilt one of the tops in the pile? Those are all questions bouncing around in my head. LOL
Veteran's Day
On this Veteran's Day 2006, please take a few minutes to say a prayer for our soldiers away fighting a war and a prayer for those that have served our country so proudly. I'm proud to say that my hubby served our country for 25 years.

I think we should just push you right over the edge of the slump -- prep applique, cut a new quilt and get ready to quilt one of your tops. We quilters love nothing more than multiple projects on our plates *s*

You've got the pump primed now. The water will start flowing soon! I just listened to an old Kingston Trio song: "You've got to prime the pump, you've got to have faith and belief." Hmm, hmm, hmm. Now it's an earworm.

I sewed at a quilt shop last night too...wouldn't it be a hoot that we were at the same place? I got the last binding on a tree skirt and free motioned some placemats. I felt SO productive and I actually spent most of my time visiting!
I think it's perfect Darlene! The blue is sweet and that little punch of yellow makes it a perfect choice!!

I think everyone has several irons in the fire.
Ah....30's prints...warm fuzzy feelings bubble up when I see a quilt done in 30's with traditional blocks. If your friend doesn't love it as much as you do, just reclaim it for yourself!

I also love what you found - it looks great with your blocks. Did you get it all put together? I think you are working yourself out of this slump slowly but surely.
So sorry I've been so bad at reading and commenting lately - I'm so far behind on everyone's blogs. It's been too busy at work to sneak in any blog reading, and at home I've taken advantage of the very strong urge I have right now to sew. I want to get as much done as I can before it passes.
Darlene, this is a great surprise quilt. So pretty and sweet. The colors are so soft and soothing. I agree that the nine patches look better on point.
I reckon the slumps are usually squashed when you cut out a new quilt LOL. I love the blue border fabric you chose - it suits that sweet quilt perfectly :-)
I see that your friend got this quilt and absolutely loves it! Obviously she has very good taste! Great job on a complete finish - a complete, complete finish is always a big thrill for me! Moving into winter I leave behind most UFO's and work on new, exciting projects to make up for the gray winter days -but come spring I will be right back at UFO's although after this year, the list is very short!
