Over the past six months or so I've asked a handful of you for your mailing address because I wanted to send a "just because" package. I'm finally ready to get box up your treasures and send them to you. You know who you are so stay tuned near your mailbox. :-) And, thank you for your patience.
July 19, 2007 I announced a Pay It Forward game and three have been waiting ever so patiently for their surprises. Last night I made one of the surprises but I can't tell you if it's for Linda, Nan or Sara. I anticipate meeting this obligation/promise by early next week.

This is beige/tan.
Wendy's final package was not 9 patches but this adorable mini quilt and the cute pin cushion with the teeny, tiny 9 patch in the center. :-)

Here's my Raggedy Annie, just like Wendy's, that I special ordered from Nicole @ Raggedy Old Annies. I decided that Wendy needed an Annie for her birthday and after some discussion with Nicole I decided that Twin Raggedy Annies would be fun. :-) The only difference in our Annies - Wendy's has a W on her dress and mine has a D on hers. In December I ordered a Christmas Annie but when I put my decorations away I put her in the bin, too. Judy keeps telling me that I need to pull her out - she can't breathe in that bin. Hopefully, I'll do that soon and then remember to show you a picture because I didn't when she arrived.
I quilted one of the blue and brown quilts I made recently. I made two exactly alike - one for me and one to surprise a fellow blogger. Do you think she'll like it? Do you think she'll be surprised? Is it too plain? I wanted it to look a bit vintage so I did a close meandering so when it's washed it'll crinkle up and look yummy! I really hope she'll like it because I've been wanting to make something for her for many, many months. I'll just keep my fingers crossed - wish me luck!
Thanks for stopping by - I really enjoy sharing with you.

The last from my cutting frenzy is officially a flimsy. This is "A Tisket, A Tasket" by Renee Plains (Liberty Star) and the kit I won in January from Jeanne at http://luv2stitch.blogspot.com/. Please don't look too close - some of the points have been cut off but for the most part it looks fine. :-)
It appears that my pile of flimsies for 2008 is growing so I think I need to concentrate on actual quilting. I have some new projects planned so it's going to be very difficult to keep from piecing. LOL Maybe I need to play a game with myself - quilt a couple and then piece one; quilt a couple and then piece one - LOL! Silly mind games I play with myself. :-)
Thanks for visiting - come again soon - my next post will have a twin theme. teehee!
I hope you're Saturday has been wonderful.

Computer woes for 24 hours and now we're back! So, bear with me as I attempt to catch up with my e-mails and blog reading!
Thanks for all the compliments on my North and South quilt. It's definitely a favorite and one that I might do again someday.
Thank you for visiting - come again!

Just One More Row! :-)
How many times have you said that yourself?
I walked into my sewing room this morning to read blogs, have a cup of coffee and do the crossword puzzle on-line. After I did all my routine things I turned in my chair to face my sewing machine and decided to finish assembling the final 24 blocks for this quilt. After I'd finished I thought I'd assemble a row or two to see how it was going to look. I have a long list of things I need to do today but I kept telling myself 'just one more row' and before I knew it I was adding the final row and calling it done. LOL This was one I cut during my cutting frenzy two weeks ago and it's called "North & South" from Mostly Quilts.
I hope that you've found time to spend with your sewing machine and are having a good week!
Thank you for stopping by and for letting me share!

It's been quite awhile since I've been shopping in the quilt stores. My DH encouraged me to go out and play today so off I went.
I had a few things in mind that I wanted to search for but no real plan. The picture shows the end result of my shopping trip.
I thought the pink/red on the far left would work for my mini 9 patches that I've been exchanging with Wendy but it won't. :-( The blue print is backing for one of the blue and brown quilts I made last week (must get at least one quilted this week and off in the mail). The next three are for future projects. The red was just because I liked it. I've been searching for the WOW frosted dots by Lakehouse Fabrics so I was happy to purchase 3 yards for a future project. The fat quarters and Laurel Jelly Roll were just because I liked them. All in all a good shopping expedition.
We have many quilt stores here on the Surface of the Sun but I don't get inspired when I visit them. I long for stores like some of you experience - a variety of samples, etc. Maybe I should save some money and take a trip to an area that has some incredible quilt stores - any suggestions? :-)
Thanks for letting me share and thanks for visiting!

I've been tagged by Tammy to list 7 weird or random things about me...

Remember my cutting frenzy last week? The pile of 30's prints is now a quilt flimsey. This is the same quilt that Sharon and Carol made in January - it's a pattern from the Clothesline Club by Darlene Zimmerman. I did ask Sharon if I could be a copycat and she said YES. :-) I've been digging in my stash for backing and found two that I think will be great for this quilt. Decisions, decisions! LOL
A couple of comments have started breaking through to my e-mail so hopefully the "problem du jour" has been fixed. We'll see as the evening progresses.
It's been cold and rainy here today. I've loved every moment. LOL
Off to make my final backing decision, make the binding and clean up the debris from this project. Enjoy your Friday evening! Thank you for visiting!

Friday evening I went to sew with my local quilting group at one of the local quilt stores. While we were there the owner was checking in boxes of merchandise and logging everything into her computer. I happened to walk by and she had two packages of 1/2" hexagons, special ordered by a customer. I stopped to look at the bags and asked if I could open one of the bags - those hexagons are tiny and I wanted to see if I could hold it and work with it. The package said that there were 750 in the package so the owner told me to take one and try it. I was surprised at how easy it was to handle but still in awe at how tiny it was.
Here it comes are you ready???? teehee (actually it was an evil cackle). ROFLOL I suggested to the owner that we put the finished hexagon back in the package and that I wanted to be there when the customer picked them up. I wanted to see the look on her face when she saw the finished hexagon in the bag. More LOL! Can you hear the customer "does that red one mean I've won something?" ROFLOL That's the finished hexagon in the picture so obviously I didn't put it back in the bag but it was so tempting! ROFLOL!
So, believe it or not I have a very evil streak. I've been known to remove bobbins, presser feet, needles, etc from machines when someone walks away. Yep, I've clipped their thread, unplugged the machine, unplugged the foot pedal - oh the list goes on.
Sometimes my evil streak is very narrow and sometimes it's very wide. LOL
Care to sew to with me????
Walking away snickering! teehee!!!!!!!

Today is our 31st wedding anniversary! Several said it wouldn't last! And, every year on this date I thumb my nose at them. LOL
Why a Cola Cola sign? We used Coca Cola for our toast at our reception and today we both drink Caffeine Free Diet Coke. It's part of who we are!
Thank you once again for letting me share!

I can show this little quilt to you now since it has a new home. Su Bee at Pieces of Time was my Winter Swap partner and she received this little tidbit from me today.
This is a Convergence quilt by Ricky Timms. A few weeks ago we had a guest here in our community who spoke about quilting and showed us 50 of the 75 convergence quilts she's made over the last two years. We talked her into having a mini class one evening and this is the result. :-) Perfect timing!
Thank you for letting me share.

Lots and lots of blue and brown fabrics = two flimsies! WooHoo!
Yes, I'm finished but I don't want to show you the flimsies because I think they will look much better quilted. Some of you have left comments indicating that you were impressed because I was working on two quilt tops at the same time. Don't be so impressed - LOL - this was such an easy pattern therefore quite simple to make two at the same time. :-) I promise to show a picture very soon as I plan to quilt them as soon as I get backings and bindings together.
Did you have a good week end? Did you spend time with your needle and thread? I sure hope so :-)
Thanks for popping in to visit - you always make my day!

I finally finished cutting fabric for the blue and brown quilts - WHEW!!!!! LOL And, now it's time to sew; today I'm multi-tasking - sewing both quilts at the same time. ;-) As I'm working I'm thinking about the friend that one of the quilts is for and praying that she will like it.
I hope that you're having a wonderful week end and finding a few minutes to play with your needle and thread.
Please leave a comment - I love to hear from you!

I've been having fun challenging myself to use my stash to do my projects this year. I'm not vowing to not purchase anything but I have challenged myself to try not to. I decided that I want to make a blue and brown quilt for a friend and while I'm at it one for me, too. Yes, the same quilt. teehee! I remembered that I had a shopping bag full of various cuts of blue, brown and background prints that I traded with some friends several years ago. I started sorting, pressing and cutting! I have all the background prints cut and now I need to cut set of blues and browns. I'll do more cutting sometime tomorrow and hopefully I'll sew most of the week end.
I'm late with my Winter Swap quilt but it's finished and will be in the mail tomorrow. I know my partner will be relieved when she hears that her quilt is finally on the way. Now, I'll just keep my fingers crossed that she'll like it.
By the way, have you noticed my 2008 Project list in my margin? Please take note that I've been quilting and binding! :-)
This week has truly flown by but I hope that you have had a nice one! Be kind to yourself and those around you! Thanks for stopping by!

Today I had what I refer to as a "low profile day". I spent the entire day in my sewing room with my thoughts! I've been thinking about sewing and future projects so I started planning and cutting! I seem to be more productive when I've taken the time to precut a project or two. So, today I did all the cutting for three projects. I don't care for "prep work" but I have to admit that I had a lot of fun. :-) A perfect way to spend a cold and rainy day. We have snow on the mountains nearby! BRRRRR
Very soon I need to spend some time doing the "prep work" for some hand projects - embroidery and hand applique!
Tomorrow I'll start cutting a 4th project! My dear friend, Nan and I have been chatting for several months about doing a Jelly Roll project together. After some discussion we decided to use the same pattern but different Jelly Rolls. We're using a pattern called "House Call" and I'm going to use my Shangri-La Jelly Roll. Pop over to Nan's Blog to see which Jelly Roll she plans to use. We agreed to show our finished projects at the end of the month.
Time to unroll that Jelly Roll and let the cutting begin. :-)
I hope you found some JOY in your corner of the world today. I appreciate that you spend a few minutes reading my blog and I love your comments! Come again!
