The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

You heard the music, didn't you? LOL

The Good

Remember this sweet flower/pinwheel? I've finally finished hand appliquing all the blocks - woohoo! Now, I need to decide on sashing, corner stones and borders. This is called Petal Play A Graceful Stitch (Denise Sheehan).
The Bad :-(

I've been in a major funk so I've been a bad blogger - please forgive me and know that I'm trying to push past it.

The Ugly

I've been doing a little sewing. I finished this earlier today and I'm not happy with it - aarrgghhh! The fabric (Cotton Blossoms by Moda) is beautiful and the pattern (Cake Walk by Me & My Sister Designs) is terrific but together they are not a good combination. I used a Jelly Cake (Jelly Roll & Layer Cake). I guess done is better than perfect. :-)

I'll be back later with a list of the recepients of all twelve baskets so be sure to check back!
Thanks for stopping by - come again!
In Friendship!

Well I have missed you. I was thinking about you the other day and was going to email you. Then it slipped my mind. The quilt tops are both lovely. I have some cotton blossom too - a jelly roll and I've been wondering what to make. Yours is lovely really. We all take breaks from time to time, no bad in that.

I love winter but I even I have to admit I am looking forward to some sunny sewing days!! ....but then there will be summer which I really have trouble with!!....I love the pinwheel quilt and I think the "ugly" quilt will be fine...!

I like your sweet flower/pinwheel. I broke out my compass and drafted a pattern from an antique quilt an old neighbor has that is quite similar. I haven't gotten anywhere near starting it yet - so far it's just another one on an ever-growing Want To Do list.

Sorry to hear about your "funk". I know how they can be. Hang in there.

As far as the "Ugly" ... It definately isn't ugly.

Hi Darlene

I sure hope you get out of your funk soon. I know how you feel - this entire summer has been a bit of a bust for me and sometimes I have really had to step back and give myself a good talking to. Never apologize - there is nothing to apologize for!

Your certainly have been busy making bags!! I am sure all who receive them will be thrilled.

What do you think is wrong with the last quilt? I like it! I think the fabric, especially the colours, and the pattern work together very well. When you look at it again on a different day you amight see it differently :)

Well Darlene I don't know what you don't like about your Cotton Blossom quilt but I think it's really pretty. And the first quilt is so pretty too! Glad you're back.

The quilt looks good in the photo, not ugly at all. But I understand disappointment, I've had projects not turn out the way I had seen them in my mind's eye. Good to have you back but taking a break can be a good thing at times.

Wendy said...

Both quilts are just lovely, you might not like the second one because of the funk. I hope this passes soon and you are feeling better.

Thimbleanna said...

Well, Darlene, I completely disagree! I like that last quilt and I love the colors! Love the flower/pinwheel too!

Sometimes we just need to take a break. You'll be back before you know it.

I can understand why you think the ugly is ugly. Some fabrics just don't work with some designs.

Erin said...

I love both of them, hope you feel better, being in a funk is something I certainly know about!!

How do I put this. . . um. . .
Wrong, Wrong, WRONG! :-) The Cotton Blossoms quilt is wonderful! In fact when I first saw the photo - I skipped a breath! I really think that's your funk talking there. I agree with many before - once it's quilted. . . you will see it with new eyes! :-)

Hey, hey, hey! There is no such thing as "ugly" here in quilting daze. This is pretty really. It might not be the color/fabric pattern of your choice but I think it's lovely. It's the funk talking that's all. Besides I'm adding this on my "list" including the one on top.

Hope you feel better soon!

I think every now and then we make a quite that doesn't turn out the way we wanted and we think it is Ugly, but when we look at it later it's not a bad as we remember.

Oh my gosh, we must have done a mind bond cause I was going to use that exact title but made one change. That is too funny! I told myself that I was going to read blogs before I went to bed, so here I am! lol Well, as usual, you've been busy! Now, what's the funk all about? Hugs!

Boy I really love what you have been working on. Hang in there. We are all here for you.....the funk shall pass and then things will be rosie again!!! I think you are the queen of bag making:-)!

Nan said...

I'm glad you posted - I've been thinking a LOT about you lately! Your quilt tops are beautiful!! BOTH of them! I'll take the one you deem "ugly" off your hands, and love it forever!! I know what you mean, though. Isn't it sad when we have what we think is a wonderful idea, and when we finish it, we decide it wasn't what we wanted? It is lovely, dear friend!! Take care of yourself!!
H'moosies to yousies!!!!
