Schnibbles & Stuff

Schnibbles, those cute small quilts, by Carrie Nelson of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co, are popping up all over the Land of Blog thanks especially to A Year of Schnibbles. Carrie has been designing and publishing Schnibbles patterns for a few years now and while I own a pile of patterns I've only made two. Last year I used a Jelly Roll and made a larger version of "X-Rated" and I also made "State Fair". I joined A Year of Schnibbles and now I'm excitedly committed to making everyone that's selected & featured. When I posted my list of January goals Swooze left a comment asking what I do with my Schnibbles quilts - well use small Schnibbles type quilts as table toppers, on the back of a chair, on a small quilt rack, rolled up with others in a basket, etc.

Would you please leave a comment and share what YOU do with your Schnibbles quilts??? I, as well as others, would love to learn about your ideas.

Speaking of Schnibbles, yesterday I spent all day in my sewing room - literally all day - I walked in at approximately 10:00am and shut everything off at midnight! Truly a BLISSFUL day. :-)

I started and finished January's Schnibbles pattern - Madeline. I used Rouenneries and I'm glad it's done - I did not enjoy making this quilt - nothing against the pattern - it was the charm packs - I didn't have enough reds. Ugh!!!! I cut a strip off my backing fabric and managed to make it work. It's finished - enough said. WooHoo!!! I hoping to quilt it today or tomorrow and call it REALLY DONE!!! LOL

Saturday I received the package of fabrics I needed for borders on three "Piece of Cake" (Thimble Blossoms) quilt tops so I also spent yesterday adding borders - 2 with Simple Abundance & 1 with Cotton Blossoms. I plan to quilt these later this week and they, too, will be REALLY DONE! :-)

Have I told you lately how much I enjoy your visit? Well, I do so come again and come often.

In Friendship!

Love your tops. I don't Schnibbles. I was given one, but for the life of me i couldn't follow it, so put it to one side.

I have never done a Schnibbles, but I think yours has quite lovely colors. And your Piece of Cake quilts are very nice! I just received border fabric in the mail for another Tranquility layer cake. I think the red inner border and binding will really set this one off!

Pretty, pretty! I too use my Schnibbles as table toppers and wall hanging, but I also use them, or more to the point my daughter uses them as doll quilts. Perfect for wrapping up her "babies". The nieces also like them for that reason.

Pretty, pretty, Darlene! I'm not ordinarily a fan of pinks and/or reds...but that is really pretty. Thanks for showing us.

I love how your Madeline turned out. I am also doing A Year of Schnibbles. I am so happy, before I would buy the patterns and not get around to making them. Now I will have one each month. I made myself a challenge to do all twelve from my stash. So far, so good. I used them as table toppers also and I have the basket one on top of an old trunk with antique quilts stacked on top.

I used "Frosted Memories" for my "Madeline" and I also use mine for table toppers and gifts (I was thinking for little gifts but 9 hrs is not little!) It has taken me three months to get the hang of the Schnibbles patterns. And, I am always happy when they are finished!

Maddy is gorgeous!! My goodness you have been busy!! Don't you just love the French General Fabric! Must keep my eye open for more...bought some charm packs- 2 for me and 2 for a friend. I don't think it's in Canada yet...everything take so long to get to us...you'd think there was a wall between us!! Must take the dogs for walk! Take care!

I love my Schnibbles, too. So far I have one hanging above the fireplace in the living room and one that I made in Civil War fabrics hanging below a picture of my great-great grandmother... next one is slated for a table top. Can't wait to start on Madeline.

Love your January Schnibbles! I just finished mine this afternoon. I hang my Schnibbles by my door in the entry...they are just the right size for that area.

Surprise...me here! It has been a busy day. I knew it would be. Anyhow, quickly looked to see if some of my all time favorite bloggets left new post...here ya are! SO...you asked what we do with the Schnibbles. It made me stop to think...where are mine? I pieced and quilted four in 2009. I've got two pieced this year. Every single one was gifted. I don't have the Madeline pattern and sure love those reds you made yours. I'm doing some serious hand slapping on ordering here..why are you tempting me?!!! Enjoy your week...

Loving your Madeline Schnibbles, Darlene! It looks so nice, and so does the Simple Abundance quilt -- can't wait to see them all quilted up! On, on the Schnibbles, I have a small cabinet with a shelf, and I plan to fold them and stack them with the door open to decorate (and I love all of your ideas for using them -- so thanks for sharing with us Darlene)!

I haven't made any of these patterns, but I make a LOT of little quilts and give them as gifts and decorate my house with them.
It's time to get out the Valentine's quilts and I'll change the ones hanging in every room in my house.
Madeline is beautiful and I hope to see that fabric some time in my neck of the woods.

Schnibbles quilts make wonderful tabletoppers or wallhangings--I particularly love making them in holiday-themed or holiday-colored fabrics. And if you make them a little larger by adding another row or two or wider borders, you can use them as small lap quilts! I love them! Your Madeline turned out great! See, you didn't need mine after all--LOL!

Sounds like a blissful day you had. I love the new quilt but then I love reds. I use my little quilts same as you and hanging on the wall as well.
Have a wonderful day.

Well, your quilt top is absolutely beautiful! I'm tempted to go buy those fabrics. Good work on making the small amount work.
As to what to do with the small quilts..I have my Schnibbles folded over the back of my computer ready to use if I get cold while sitting here. A larger one would be too much trouble. :-)

Beautiful Darlene! I don't know how big scnibbles are. I think I'd like them to hang or display too. Lovely in a big basket.

Your Schnibbles is lovely, Darlene. I've never made one. Guess I'd better get on the band wagon sometime soon, huh?

WOW - you got alot done, Darlene. My Schnibbles? I gave one away for a Christmas gift, Madeline is going on my dining room wall, the tuffets were turned into coasters to give as a gift down the road and I need MORE wall hangings so I'm sure that'll happen over the next few months.

Your Madeline is divine as are all those Pieces of Cakes.
