Miss Louise

Allow me to introduce you to Miss Louise! Isn't she sweet? I've been wanting to do some embroidery but it's been a very long time since I've actually done regular embroidery (I was a x-stitcher for years). I decided to order two simple redwork patterns by Red Brolly, Bronwyn Hayes so I could just practice. Last night while watching the baseball game I started stitching and I can't begin to tell you how much fun I was having. I was doing a regular backstitch and some of my stitches are irregular but I'm that's OK. Now, my plans are to finish Miss Louise and her companion and then trace a few more designs. My mind is racing with plans and ideas!

Oooooh, Darlene, Miss Louise is so cute ! And you did a GREAT job ! I bet you're going to make some wonderful treasures, again ! Stitching is so relaxing... and addictive too ! When I'm stitching, I could almost forget about quilting (almost!LOL))... As time goes by, I feel I'm taking the road to stitchery quilts... which is both pleasures reunion !
Biiig hugs & smiles !

Hey...I'm working on the same patterns but I'm doing Libby at the moment. How will you finish them? Any ideas? I don't know what I will make them into when finished.

That's a really cute pattern! Like you, I haven't done any embroidery for quite awhile, but I picked up a cherry pattern yesterday--I'd like to do something with it, but I'm not sure exactly what I'll do yet. I'm thinking cherries for the kitchen. Hummm.

She is so perky....... Good needlework too.......

I enjoyed working with you this morning. I finally got the pick up my table topper you shared the pattern for. As I worked, there you were sitting with me. It is going to look great on my table.

She is darling - embroidery is very dear to me . . . my first hand craft that I learned from Grandma *s*
What did you use to transfer your pattern? I always seem to make a mess with that step. . . but that's me, a little clumsy and a little messy *s*

Me again! My Yahoo seems to not like your AOL, so my e-mails to you come back (although I've gotten yours to me). Can you tell me where you got your pattern (assuming it's in the US)? I'm only coming up with Australian sources. Thanks!

Oh yes, she is so cute. Aren't Bronwyn's designs fun to stitch? What type of fabric did you stitch her on? I still have 6 or so blocks to do before I can finish my flowerbed (Bronwyn's design)quilt top.

Oh she's cute Darlene! I tell you, all this blogging about stitchery all over the place is really inspiring me. Just going to make a big dent in a really old cross-stitch and then I'll put it away for another 10 years (LOL) and do some stitchery. Hugs!!!

Miss Louise looks like a character! You sure did make a lot of progress on her while you watched the game. What is your plan for her? There are some very sweet redwork patterns out there, aren't there?

It's fabulous Darlene! I am so happy to see another stitch than the one that everyone does that I suck at...stem stitch?? I think that's it. I tried and really just suck. Yours looks fabulous and doable! GREAT job!

I love embroidery too - I love that it's come back into style. She is just SO cute! I find it interesting that so many stitchers use the backstitch. My mother taught me the outline (or stem) stitch so that's all I've ever done for redwork, etc. What a different look the two stitches give to a piece!

Hello Miss Louise :-)
You are so cute.

I find stitchery very relaxing. I used to cross stitch a lot before quilting took the best of me. I like stitchery better.
